DAY ONE – Our Adventure Begins!Our Emerald Coast adventure begins with a stop in the “LandBetween the Lakes” region of Western Kentucky for dinner at Patti’s1880s Settlement. Opened in 1977 as a hamburger and ice creamparlor, Patti’s has grown into a local institution serving a variety ofgreat food, and is known for their award winning one-inch porkchop, which is charbroiled to perfection. Later, we continue to ourhotel in Clarksville, Tennessee. Dinner

DAY TWO – Jimmy Carter and Mary MacArriving in Atlanta we visit the Jimmy Carter Presidential Libraryand Museum. Here, you’ll see the extensive collection of photo-graphs and historical memorabilia from the Carter presidency (1977– 1981) as well as an exact replica of the Oval Office from the WhiteHouse. You will also see the many gifts the Carters have receivedalong with a display focusing on the Carter’s humanitarian work.Tonight we are treated to true Southern made-from-scratch fareserved with genuine Southern hospitality at Mary Mac’s Tea Room.Since opening her doors in 1945 Mary McKenzie’s is the last of the16 Tea Rooms that once dotted intown Atlanta in the 1940s. DAY THREE – Plains, Georgia National Historic SiteTraveling south from Atlanta we make a stop in Plains, Georgia, aNational Historic Site and home of former president Jimmy Carter.We’ll visit Plains High School which serves as the park museum andvisitor center. Here, you will find restored and furnished classroom,principal’s office and auditorium. Later, we travel through Alabamabefore arriving on Florida’s Emerald Coast, our home for the nextthree nights. DAY FOUR – Touring on the Emerald CoastWe begin our touring today at the Destin History & FishingMuseum. Here, we learn the history of the region through the manydisplays and exhibits. The museum features an extensive example ofthe fish caught in the area and a large collection of antique fishingrods and reels including a split bamboo rod with Penn Reel whichbelonged to Ernest Hemingway. You’ll also see the oldest seine fish-ing boat in existence, The Primrose, which was built in 1925 andlearn why Destin is considered the “Luckiest Fishing Village in theWorld.” At the Air Force Armament Museum you’ll experience avi-ation warfare armament from the early days of World War I rightthrough to today’s high tech planes and bombs. Inside, you’ll find anextensive collection of weaponry and interactive displays that will

DAY FIVE – Free Time and Dolphin Watching CruiseThis morning has been left free for you to enjoy. Relax by thepool, do some shopping in Destin Commons or walk acrossto Henderson Beach State Park where you can stroll thebeautiful, powdery white sand beach and dip your toes inthe crystal-clear waters. No trip to the Emerald Coast would

be complete without a chance to get out on those beautifulemerald waters for which the region is named. One way to see the property is by anincluded boat ride in the Delta Atrium. That’s right, be sure to stepaboard a Mississippi-style Delta Flatboat and gently wind your waythrough the lush four-and-a-half acre indoor garden while yourguide offers unique facts about the Delta’s plants and fish. You’lllearn about the hotel’s Delta Island that features an 85-foot fountain,three waterfalls and the many shops and stores. Tonight we aretreated to an evening of great food and fun at Nashville’s first pro-fessional theatre, Chaffin’s Barn Dinner Theatre. Originally openedin 1967, Chaffin’s has been serving up their sumptuous country-style buffet dinners while offering Broadway-style shows produced“In-the-Round” on their own special descending magic stage. DAY TWO – Mississippi River Cruise and MemphisLeaving Missouri we travel through Arkansas before crossing intoTennessee at Memphis. Here, we climb aboard the Memphis Queenriverboat for a narrated cruise along the Mighty Mississippi. We’lllearn tales of river life as spun by Mark Twain and hear about the S.S.Sultana steamboat accident, one of the worst American maritime dis-asters to date. Later, enjoy the evening on your own in Memphis, the“Home of the Blues.” Breakfast

DAY THREE – Shiloh National Military ParkToday we visit Shiloh National Military Park, site of the Battle ofShiloh. Originally fought over two days in 1862, the battle of Shilohsaw Union General Ulysses S. Grant and Confederate General P.G.T.Beauregard wage what was the costliest battle of the war at the time,with well over 23,000 casualties incurred on both sides. An inform-ative film describes the events of 1862, and costumed interpreters(when available) provide period demonstrations. Tonight, weovernight in Corinth, Mississippi. Box lunch

Join us for a special departure dedicated to the 150thanniversary of the Battle of Shiloh, pitting Generals Grantand Beauregard in what was the costliest battle of the time.The reenactment will take place on hallowed ground, wherethe Confederate troops camped the night before the battle,adjacent to Shiloh National Military Park.

DAY FIVE – Chickamauga National Military Park and the “Battle Above the Clouds”We begin the day with a visit to America’s first and largest NationalMilitary Park at Chickamauga. The park commemorates Civil Warsoldiers from both sides, features an audio visual presentation andhouses the Fuller Gun collection. High atop Lookout Mountain theBattles for Chattanooga Museum includes an electronic map of thearea’s battles and a visit to Park Point is highlighted by JamesWalker’s painting The Battle of Lookout Mountain which becameknown as the “Battle Above the Clouds.” Breakfast

DAY SIX – Falcon Rest Mansion and the Battle of FranklinToday we are greeted by Gen. John Hunt Morgan and are invited tohis Honeymoon Ball in beautiful Falcon Rest Mansion, aptly called“Tennessee’s Biltmore.” The town of Franklin was the scene of thefive bloodiest hours of the American Civil War. We’ll visit CarntonPlantation and learn how this home was used as a field hospital forwounded Confederate soldiers while the battle raged around it. Astop at Carter House shows us a modest brick home, riddled withbullet holes. It was commandeered and used as a Federal commandpost. Tonight we enjoy dinner and Civil War Ball hosted by Mrs.Smith in Clarksville. Lunch and dinner

DAY SEVEN – Fort Defiance and HomeThis morning we stop at the new Interpretive Center at FortDefiance to learn how the fort was surrendered without a single shotbeing fired. Later, we continue home today with a better understand-ing of the Civil War and an appreciation of those who fought andhelped define this country. Breakfast

DAY FOUR – Dead Horse Point State ParkThe Rocky Mountains loom large on the horizon as we departDenver this morning. We cross the Continental Divide and travelthrough some of the most scenic and naturally beautiful country inthe U.S. En route to Moab, view the surrounding canyonlands, acolorful landscape eroded into canyons, mesas and buttes by theColorado River. We visit Dead Horse Point State Park, which sitsatop a 2,000-foot peninsula known for the herds of wild horses thatonce roamed here. Breakfast

DAY FIVE – Arches National Parkand Colorado River Float TripArches National Park contains the largest concentration of stonearches in the world. A local guide shows us the massive sandstonearches and describes the culture of those that have occupied theregion. Enjoy lunch before boarding a raft for a float trip on theColorado River. During the leisurely ride our oarsman will tell ustales of the area as we explore river passages with names like FisherTowers and Professor Valley. Breakfast and lunch

DAY SIX – Bryce Canyon National ParkWe depart Moab this morning and travel south into Utah’s BryceCanyon National Park. The formations within the park, called

Hoodoos, are the creation of wind and water erosion over eons oftime. The natural orange and red hues that color these formationsare the result of iron oxidizing within the rock. Bryce CanyonNational Park is truly one of the most spectacular scenic wondersin the world. Step down inside these canyons and you will feel as ifyou have entered another world. Breakfast

DAY SEVEN – Moqui Cave and Zion National ParkOur day begins with a stop at Moqui Cave. Cut into a sheer cliff,this 200-foot sandstone cave depicts the lives and architecturalachievements of the ancient Americans of Southern Utah. Travelingsouth, we visit Zion National Park. The first settlers in the areareferred to Zion as “The Heavenly City of God” and you will dis-cover why. Sheer cliffs and painted walls of color close in as wetour the canyon cut by the Virgin River. Watch for the hiddenwaterfalls and abundant wildlife. Breakfast

Later, we travel into YellowstoneNational Park, America’s first national park for a two night stay.Dinner

DAY FIVE – Yellowstone National Park Today, explore Yellowstone in all its glory on a guided tour. Wewatch Old Faithful blow off some steam and see the upper andlower falls of Yellowstone’s Grand Canyon, one of the mostbreathtaking sights inside the park. In addition, there are manyother natural geothermal sites, like geysers, mud paint pots andventing which occur regularly throughout the region. Breakfast

DAY EIGHT – Crazy Horse National MonumentThis morning it’s on to South Dakota. This region provided themagnificent backdrop for the movie Dances with Wolves. We skirtthe edge of Thunder Basin National Grassland, site of many U.S.Cavalry and Native American skirmishes, before arriving at theawe-inspiring Crazy Horse National Memorial. Later we arrive atour hotel in Rapid City, our home for the next two nights. Breakfast and dinner

DAY NINE – Jeep Ride in Custer State Park and Mt. Rushmore We begin the day with a visit Custer State Park to learn about thepark’s wildlife, foliage and rich history. We take to the fields on anopen-air jeep ride to look for buffalo and other wildlife that roamthe park. We stop at the Borglum Historical Center to learn aboutthe man who carved the incredible Mt. Rushmore, the world’slargest monument statue. Then, we view America’s most enduringlandmark, Mt. Rushmore, dedicated to some of our country’s great-est leaders. Breakfast

DAYS TEN AND ELEVEN – Return Home We begin our journey home with a stop at Wall Drug, a uniqueshopping emporium and favorite watering hole since the 1930s.Later, we stop at The Corn Palace, an immense structure of Moorisharchitecture and covered entirely with colorful ears of corn. We traverse the con-tinental divide again via Going-to-the-Sun Road aboard anantique “Jammer” bus. DAY SIX – Arrive in JasperLeaving the United States today we cross into Canada at Albertaand get ready to explore the many superb sightseeing attractionsthat exist in Banff and Jasper National Parks. We pass Peyto Lake

and reach a height of 6,675 feet at Bow Summit. We descend toMistaya Canyon and Panther Falls and then pass through moun-tains that tower 10,000 to 12,000 feet. Our day of traveling endsamidst the breathtaking scenery of the mountain town of Jasper.Breakfast and dinner

DAY SEVEN – Maligne Lake and Columbia IcefieldEnjoy the breathtaking scenery of Jasper National Park as wecruise Maligne Lake with its unparalleled vistas. Learn of the localhistory, geology, wildlife and glaciology of Maligne Lake and thepark while taking in some of the spectacular scenery in theRockies. This afternoon we board a Snocoach and venture out onto the Columbia Icefield. This phenomenon covers 150 squaremiles, and its melting waters flow into the Atlantic, Pacific andArctic Oceans. This was once the center of the coppermining in the region and was also a supply depot and gatheringpoint for exploring parties. At the end of the Keweenaw Peninsulastands the Fort Wilkins Historic Complex, a well-preserved nine-teenth-century military post and lighthouse complex. Roommate CancellationIf you are booked as a “twin” and your roommate cancels their reserva-tion, and you cannot find another roommate, you may either travel asa guaranteed share (see above) or travel as a single and pay the singlesupplement.

Health and Walking on Tour Some sites visited have limited motorcoach access and may involve con-siderable walking, stairs or inclines. Travelers should be in reasonablygood health. Some programs include destinations in higher elevationsthat may have varying effects on individual travelers. Tour Managersand Coach Drivers cannot lift or assist travelers into transportationvehicles. Mayflower Tours requires that persons requiring assistance beaccompanied by a companion who is capable of and totally responsiblefor providing the assistance.

Revision FeesA fee of $25 per person per transaction will be charged for any changes,revisions or alterations made to your reservation after confirmation.

Luggage HandlingThe tour cost includes porterage for one average size suitcase. A chargeof $5.00 per hotel will be collected by the Tour Manager for each addi-tional piece of luggage that you bring.

Travel DocumentsYour travel documents will be in your possession approximately 14 daysprior to departure. Documents include tour itinerary, departure and arrivalinformation and times, hotel information, clothing suggestions, baggagetags, plus any helpful hints.

Entry into Canada, Mexico and the CaribbeanA valid passport is required for entry into Canada, Mexico and theCaribbean. No other documents will be accepted. Non-citizens must have avalid passport, visa or alien card which permits entry into these areas. Inaddition they will need a “multiple entry” visa for return to U.S.

Cancellation Fee Waiver (CFW) Motorcoach Tours To protect you against cancellation fees should you have to cancel yourtour or interrupt your tour en route, we have added an optional $60Cancellation Fee Waiver (CFW) in our deposit schedule. The CFW isnon-refundable and non-transferable. The CFW cannot be transferred toanother reservation, departure date or tour after booking has been made.Changing an existing booking to another date or tour will result in losingthe CFW premium paid on the original booking. If you do not wish to pur-chase the CFW, simply deposit the “without CFW” amount. This non-refundable fee waives all cancellation fees and penalties, provided we arenotified of the cancellation one day before your tour departs.

While on tour, if a passenger must leave early due to a personal illness, ill-ness or death of a member of the immediate family or a traveling compan-ion, the purchase of the Cancellation Fee Waiver guarantees full refund forany unused services. For motorcoach tours, return transportation will beprovided (the mode of transportation will be determined at the discretionof Mayflower Tours.)The injury or sickness must be, in the written opin-ion of a physician, so disabling as to cause a trip to be interrupted and mustrequire the care and attendance by a physician at the place of occurrence.

This program has certain exclusions.
