President, Edith Martin: Edith called the meeting to order and welcomed
everyone. Georgia McDonald, former member, and Sharon Harrison were introduced to the members. A motion
was made and approved to give a free National Membership to one of our members. Gail Routt was the winner
of the membership. The Cumming Girls will be doing Paint-In, 2016.
1st Vice President, Mary Erwin: Plans for the September In-House seminar are underway. Lisa will be
teaching the after meeting painting at the June meeting.
2nd Vice President – Angie Erwin: Angie asked that everyone pick up their membership cards and make
sure that information on the membership list was current. She also needs to see your National Membership card.
Treasurer, Linda Payne: Nothing to report
Secretary, Brenda King: Nothing to report
Newsletter Editor, Gail Routt: Edith helped me get the last newsletter sent out but hopefully next month I’ll
have my computer issues straightened out.
Ways & Means, Lisa: Final details of Basket Bonanza are in place.
Awards, Ruby Bagby: A motion was made and approved to change the guidelines for the Golden Pallet award
from : “award Recipients are only eligible for one award” to “award Recipient can receive the
award more than once”. This was suggested due to the fact that we don’t have a large group to vote from
anymore. The rule that current Board members are not eligible for the award are still in place.
All business completed, meeting was adjourned.
Respectfully Submitted by,
Brenda King, Secretary
A note from Angie, 2nd V.P.
Just a quick reminder, I will need to see your 2015 SDP membership card. You can bring it to
our June meeting or you can make a copy and email it to me. Some of you have already taken
care of this and I thank you!
We also had several changes to our membership list and I will have an updated version for
everyone at our June meeting.
Many of you received your 2015 MIDA Handbook at Paint In. If you have not received your
handbook please let me know. I know I've ask everyone at the last two meetings but just in case
I've missed someone, I'll be happy to get that out to you.
Thanks so much and see you all soon. Happy painting!

Ways and Means Lisa Copeland M/770-540-7502 [email protected] Many thanks to everyone for a very successful Basket Bonanza!! All of the tables were so amazing and we had a record 48 beautiful baskets, including David Martin’s beautiful handmade bowls and birdhouse. A special thanks to Gloria and Edith for another wonderful lunch; you both are so talented and efficient. The appetizers were fabulous again this year and we had plenty to go around. Basket Bonanza is a huge group effort and everyone pitched in and made a lovely event; everyone seemed to have a really good time and I heard many positive comments. It is wonderful to see everyone participate in MIDA’s events! A big shout out to Brenda King who is always the first there and the last to leave willing to do anything to help. You are a gem! One more shout out to Miss Ruby who was there on Friday helping set up those heavy tables and right back helping in the kitchen on Saturday! Scharff Brush Sales: I will be taking orders for brushes at every meeting. We must have a minimum order of $150 to receive the discount that benefits you and MIDA. Remember, you receive 40% off retail. Most of you have brochures at home, but I will be happy to mail you an order form with the new prices. All checks should be written to MIDA. If you have an order between meetings, you may email or call me with the order. Thanks to all the “Birthday Girls” for bringing their gifts to the April meeting. We all love to win something painted by our talented members. Pig in a Poke is a little different now. Three people took home bags to fill and bring back. I’m sure the bags will be filled with great stuff!! I am “teaching” the after meeting class in June. If you need a pattern, I will be glad to send you one on vellum; just let me know. This will be an interesting afternoon to say the least. I am so grateful to be a part of such a special group of ladies! Love you all!!

After Meeting Painting Project
Saturday, June 6th Habersham Senior Center
Registration Form
Project Description: Lace Doily Medium: Acrylic
Teacher: Lisa Copeland
Surface: This can be put on any shape, it fits perfectly on the bentwood heart box that Michael's carries for $1.
Preparation: Surface should be base coated prior to class; I use a foam roller for base coating as it gives the surface a nice smooth finish. Basecoat with a color of your choice, but it has to be dark, so the lace will show.
I will have patterns printed on vellum available at the April meeting, pattern should be transferred with white graphite.
Provided: Pattern in vellum and paint.
Brushes: I use a sable brush for painting the lace, however it is not necessary; a small flat or filbert works fine for washing. A fine liner for detail and line work. Dots can either be put on with a brush or stylus. Your favorite brush for doing stroke work, I use a round brush appropriate for the size of the stroke, this design has small and larger strokes
Cost: $5.00 (give to teacher before class starts) Supplies to bring: Normal Acrylic painting supplies
Time: 9:00 – 10:00 A.M Arrival Time 10:00 – 11:30 A.M. General Meeting 12:00 – 4:00 P.M. After Meeting Class
