With the right combination of rain, sunlight and warmth, the barren landscape of one of the driest places on the planet springs to life. Bursts of colorful flowers transform roads and byways through the desert, as if seeded for show to those driving by.
New life can grow in the driest of places.
But seedlings are fragile. They need to be carefully planted and nurtured in order to grow. The act of cultivating such life is what we as the body of Christ do when we invest in people and communities around the world.
This takes time and a sustained relationship. When we do the work of ministry in places such as Malawi, Costa Rica , India, and around the world, we act as God’s gardeners, putting a trowel to the world with the light and peace of Jesus.
This month we celebrate our ongoing work and call each other to even greater works of growing new life.
Sprout. Planting the seeds of God’s kingdom.

today’s MessageSprout: Planting Life: The Bible Scripture: Psalm 119:9-16 Preacher: Vic Pentz at 8:45, 10:00 and 11:15 a.m.
at our 8:45 service, our 4th graders will receive bibles honoring them and their transition into student Ministry (see page 10 for a list of our 4th graders). in the 10:00 a.m. and 11:15 a.m services this morning, we celebrate the sacrament of baptism. baptism of infants is one way we look to the future. as we welcome these children into our fellowship, we also pledge that we will nurture their faith in the hope that they will one day profess their own faith in Jesus christ. the water being used for baptisms this morning comes from a new well in the village of chipakama, Malawi, funded by Peachtree’s Vacation bible school in 2010.

though little is known about the author of this hymn, the text is
solidly based on scripture.
Verse 2 from isaiah 41:10; verse 3 from 2 corinthians 12:9; and verse 4 from
hebrews 13:5. all of these scriptures are
promises of god. it is fitting that we sing his promises as we bring children for baptism
this morning.

Pastoral Prayer and the lord’s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. amen. offering our gifts Order My Steps .........................................glenn burleigh/arr. Order my steps in your word, dear Lord,
Lead me, guide me, every day. Send your anointing, Father, I pray. Order my steps in your word, Please, order my steps in your word. Humbly I ask Thee, teach me your will, While you are working, help me be still. Tho’ Satan is busy, God is real! Order my steps in your word, Please, order my steps in your word. I want to walk worthy Lord, my calling to fulfill. Please order my steps, Lord, and I’ ll do your blessed will. The world is ever changing, but you are still the same. If you order my steps, I’ ll praise your name. Order my steps in your word, order my tongue in your word. Guide my feet in your word, wash my heart, O Lord, in your word. Show me how to walk in your word, Show me how to talk in your word. When I need a brand new song to sing, Show me how to let your praises ring, in your word. Please, order my steps in your word.
Order My Steps by gospel composer

in the world of hymnody, this
hymn is relatively “new,” composed by doris Mae akers in 1953. akers was an american gospel music composer,

work with the sky Pilot choir, she was inducted into the
gospel Music hall of Fame in 2001.

refuse to do nothing: Finding your Power to abolish Modern-day slavery by shayne Moore & Kimberly Mcowen yim
slavery didn’t end in 1833, when william wilberforce’s decades-long campaign finally resulted in the slavery abolition act. it didn’t end in 1863, when abraham lincoln signed the emancipation Proclamation. it didn’t end in 1949, when the united nations declared trafficking “incompatible with the dignity and worth of the human person.” the sad truth is, slavery never ended. it just went underground, where it continues to exploit powerless men, women and children in horrific ways throughout the world.
now for the good news: you have power.
