Pastor’s Viewpoint

It is by the path of love, which is chari-ty, that God draws near to us, and we to God. But where love is not found, God cannot dwell. If then, we possess love, we possess God, for “God is Love.”

The Parish Office

The Parish Office is now open Monday

thru Friday from 9:00am—2:00pm. Due

to the limited space in the lobby area

we ask that no more than 2 people, in

the area at one time. We ask that you

follow the CDC guidelines of taking

your temperature before you come,

wear a mask and use sanitizer when you

first come in and when you leave. Any

questions, please call the parish office at

440-237-6760.

Dear St. Albert the Great Family,

Today we celebrate the first public Sunday Mass since

March 15, 2020, and it is Pentecost Sunday. Often Pentecost

is referred to as the birthday of the Church, and this Pentecost

seems to be a certain type of "re-birth" for the church in our

day. I am so grateful for all the faith, support, and love from

our St. Albert parish during these challenging times. I am also

so grateful to our wonderful parish staff and employees who

have managed this crisis so peacefully and effectively by hard

work, generous cooperation, and sincere faith. God bless us

all!

We will begin to celebrate Funeral Masses, Wedding

Masses and Baptisms according to the cautions set by the

health officials. Weekly confessions and the Adoration Chap-

el (limited hours) will resume sometime after June 15th.

Thank you for observing all of the cautions and for your pa-

tience with us in ministry along with your brothers and sisters

in the pew and on the roads around town.

Please pay special attention to the guidelines for cele-

brating Mass in Church. These are available in this bulletin

but also on our parish website www.saint-albert.org.

Peace,

Pentecost Sunday

Prayer List

The following names are additions to the prayer list this week.

Please pray for those sick in our parish

Mary Gurgol

A prayer list is published on the first and third Sunday of the

month.

“Liturgy & Prayer”

First Prayer

O Mary, You shine continuously on our jour-ney as a sign of salvation and hope. We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick, who, at the foot of the cross, were united with Jesus’ suffering, and persevered in your faith.

“Protectress of the Roman people”, you know our needs, and we know that you will provide, so that, as at Cana in Galilee, joy and celebration may return after this time of trial.

Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform ourselves to the will of the Father and to do what Jesus tells us. For he took upon himself our suffer-ing, and burdened himself with our sorrows to bring us, through the cross, to the joy of the Resurrection. Amen.

We fly to your protection, O Holy Mother of God; Do not despise our petitions in our necessities, but deliver us always from every danger, O Glorious and Blessed Virgin.

Pray for Those Who Died

Rose Fern

Memorial for “The Blessed Virgin Mary,

Mother of the Church”

Pope Francis has added a Memorial for “The Blessed Virgin

Mary, Mother of the Church” to the General Roman Calen-

dar. It will be celebrated each year on the Monday after Pen-

tecost. This year it will be on Monday, June 1st.

Remembering Loved Ones in the St. Albert

the Great Memorial Funds.

St. Albert the Great has two Memorial

Funds as a way for us to remember those

who have died. First, the Liturgical Me-

morial Fund which supports the liturgical

and bereavement ministries of our parish.

Second, is the John L. Viall Scholarship

Fund which provides school tuition assis-

tance for needy parish families.

The following people were remembered by a gift to St. Albert

the Great in their memory. A monthly Mass will be celebrat-

ed with the intentions for:

Vi Lepa

For more information about the Memorial Funds please con-

tact Kathy Sabol at the parish office at 440-237-6760.

St. Albert parishioners are remarkably

generous. Sharing a portion of our

income with the Church is a sign that

everything belongs to God and we

dedicate our “first fruits” to the work

of the Kingdom of Christ. Thank you

so much for your faith and generosity.

“Liturgy & Prayer”

Second Prayer

“We fly to your protection, O Holy Mother of God”.

In the present tragic situation, when the whole world is prey to suffering and anxiety, we fly to you, Mother of God and our Mother, and seek refuge under your protection.

Virgin Mary, turn your merciful eyes towards us amid this coro-navirus pandemic. Comfort those who are distraught and mourn their loved ones who have died, and at times are buried in a way that grieves them deeply. Be close to those who are concerned for their loved ones who are sick and who, in order to prevent the spread of the disease, cannot be close to them. Fill with hope those who are troubled by the uncertainty of the future and the conse-quences for the economy and employment.

Mother of God and our Mother, pray for us to God, the Father of mercies, that this great suffering may end and that hope and peace may dawn anew. Plead with your divine Son, as you did at Cana, so that the families of the sick and the victims be comforted, and their hearts be opened to confidence and trust.

Protect those doctors, nurses, health workers and volunteers who are on the frontline of this emergency, and are risking their lives to save others. Support their heroic effort and grant them strength, generosity and continued health.

Be close to those who assist the sick night and day, and to priests who, in their pastoral concern and fidelity to the Gospel, are try-ing to help and support everyone.

Blessed Virgin, illumine the minds of men and women engaged in scientific research, that they may find effective solutions to over-come this virus.

Support national leaders, that with wisdom, solicitude and gener-osity they may come to the aid of those lacking the basic necessi-ties of life and may devise social and economic solutions inspired by farsightedness and solidarity.

Mary Most Holy, stir our consciences, so that the enormous funds invested in developing and stockpiling arms will instead be spent on promoting effective research on how to prevent similar trage-dies from occurring in the future.

Beloved Mother, help us realize that we are all members of one great family and to recognize the bond that unites us, so that, in a spirit of fraternity and solidarity, we can help to alleviate count-less situations of poverty and need. Make us strong in faith, perse-vering in service, constant in prayer.

Mary, Consolation of the afflicted, embrace all your children in distress and pray that God will stretch out his all-powerful hand and free us from this terrible pandemic, so that life can serenely resume its normal course.

To you, who shine on our journey as a sign of salvation and hope, do we entrust ourselves, O Clement, O Loving, O Sweet Virgin Mary. Amen

Parish Census Call Program

In the coming weeks, you will be receiving a phone call from a

member of the parish or school staff as a continued effort to

remain in touch with our parish family. The call will not only

be a check-in and informational call, but while we have you,

update our parish database with any changes to your address,

phone number or email. In the event that you miss the phone

call, you can also update your information by going to the par-

ish website, www.saint-albert.org, where you will find the Par-

ish Census under the About Us tab.

Thank you for helping us remain current with you!

Happy Anniversary Laudato Si

As we celebrate the 5th anniversary of Laudato Si, our Creation

Care Ministry encourages all of our parishioners to join us in

our mission to support pollinators. By increasing biodiversity

with native trees and plants we provide crucial feeding stations.

Ohio populations of key pollinators like honey bees, mason

bees, bumble bees and Monarch butterflies are all declining.

Below is a list of great native plants and trees to help them out.

Remember when planning your garden, to choose plants that

will provide blooms from early Spring through Fall.

Trees: eastern redbud, crabapple, linden, serviceberry,

common persimmon, bitternut hickory, American sweetgum

Shrubs: ninebark, pussy willow, sumac, viburnum, elderberry,

chokeberry, button bush

Perennials: aster, hyssop, swamp milkweed, butterfly weed,

purple coneflower, bee balm, wild lupine, black-eyed susan,

iris

Annuals: cosmos, marigold, sunflower, zinnia, nasturtium

Herbs: basil, borage, catmint, lavender, oregano, sage, thyme,

rosemary, chamo mile

We also invite you to consider creating a St. Kateri habitat in

your yard space. For more information, visit www.kateri.org.

It is a fun way to connect with creation and get your family in-

volved too. If you’d like to share a photo of what you have cre-

ated please email it to [email protected] with ‘Garden” in the

subject heading. We’d love to share it in our parish Sustaina-

ble Living monthly E-newsletter and on Facebook

@SATGCreationcare.

Pentecost Sunday

Preparing for Next Sunday’s Mass Parish LinC Letter June 7, 2020 The Most Holy Trinity

Read the following Scripture passage paying attention to a word,

phrase, or idea that stands out to you:

God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who be-

lieves in him might not perish but might have eternal life. For God did not

send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might

be saved through him. Whoever believes in him will not be condemned, but

whoever does not believe has already been condemned, because he has not

believed in the name of the only Son of God.

Step 1

Consider and Discuss these 3 Questions:

Considering your life today....

1. What in this reading comforted you?

2. What in this reading encouraged you?

3. What in this reading challenged you?

For further contemplation....

What conversion of mind, heart, and life is the Lord asking of me?

Step 2

conclude by praying our “Parish Communion Prayer”

O Communion of Love, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, embrace us as your children in this family of faith. Wel-

come us to a place at your table in the wedding feast of heaven. O Father of Mercy, forgive us as we forgive. Rec-

oncile us as one Body in Christ and make us instruments of your Peace. O Spirit of Fire and Light, send us as

your witnesses in daily life. Through our prayer, faith, and good works may we become welcoming doorways, in-

viting others to enter and encounter your Holy Communion of Love.

We make this prayer, Father, in the power of the Holy Spirit, and through Christ our Lord. Amen

Step 3

Four steps to LinC together at home, church meeting, or anywhere!
