♦ On this Memorial weekend, thank God for those who have given their lives in service to our nation. ♦ Thank the Lord for “that great cloud of witnesses” (Heb. 12:1), now in heaven, whose lives and testimonies have pointed the way to Christ. ♦ Thank the Lord for a thriving ministry to children in OCEC’s Wednesday night SWAT (Students With A Testimony) program. Last Wednesday’s party had the highest attendance yet: 139 children! ♦ Pray for our national, state and church leaders, including U.S. President Barack Obama, Oregon Governor Ted Kulongoski, our Evangelical Church General Superintendent, Brian Eckhardt and Pacific Conference Superintendent, Chris Neilson and OCEC’s lead pastor, Tom Hurt. ♦ Pray for our nation and our armed services personnel. Pray for God’s grace, protection and help for those in places of war. Ask God to be the comfort for those across our nation who have lost loved ones and friends. ♦ Pray for those suffering from chronic illnesses, for those recovering from recent surgeries, for those under hospice care, and for those who have recently suffered the death of loved ones.
