Thursday, June 2 8:00 am - Joseph Knepper & Suzie & Ken Pins ! What we as an Amazing Parish community seek is to enhance our worship, through hymns, homily, and hospitality, we know most fully in the Eucharistic Body and Blood of Jesus given to us. The abundance of God’s love, mercy and presence that is poured into our lives in the Eucharist we receive must later be distributed to one another through us. As faithful disciples we build upon this Eucharistic grace in the ways in which we celebrate and serve with joy. A very big thank you to all who led, served and participated in our second Grace 2.0 Rebuilding series.

Dear Parishioners:

"All the good works in the world are not equal to the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass because they are the works of men; but the Mass is the work of God. Martyrdom is nothing in comparison for it is but the sacrifice of man to God; but the Mass is the sacrifice of God for man." - St. John Vianney

Today we celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Jesus Christ! We rejoice in this unique and eternal act of Jesus that transforms us to live in the Kingdom of God. How do you show respect for this Heavenly Gift? We show Jesus the depth of our love by the consideration, preparation and priority we have for Him in the Holy Eucharist so that we may bring His Grace into the world, to everyone we meet. Once Mother Teresa was criticized for praying at daily Mass. She simply said, "If we do not receive Je-sus, we would not be able to do His work."

This Memorial Day we especially remember those who have died fighting for our freedom, as well as all of our loved ones who have been so good to us. In this month dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, may you too be filled with the Holy Spirit, bringing Jesus to the world in accordance with the Will of our Heav-enly Father: Grace 2.0!

!Blessings upon your family! Fr. Gabriel

Fair Trade organizations work with producers to determine a fair price that values their work and helps them live a de-cent life. Many Fair Traders pay for their order promptly.

Most other importers wait 60-90 days before paying, making it hard for small producers to survive. Fair Traders are open about how they do business, so you can ask them about how they determine what is fair.!

Great Give Day - On Tuesday May 3, 2016, the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque sponsored the third annual Great Give Day, a 24-hour online giving event for Northeast Iowa nonprofits. This year’s event raised $370,528 for 114 organizations in this one day for the many Dubuque area organizations benefitting from the event. The Social Justice Ministry at St. Joseph the Worker received $2060 from 10 contributions. All proceeds will be sent to St. Therese of the Child Jesus Church in Haiti. The pastor, Fr. Paul Dorlean, will use the funds to complete the building of his rectory to host visitors on future mission trips sponsored by St. Joseph the Worker. Many thanks to those of you who contributed so generously! Third Sunday Collection – Our Third Sunday collection for the month of May went to the Dubuque Boys and Girls Club. We collected $393.16 to support their many programs for the youth in our Dubuque Community. Thanks for your generosity!

OCTOBEFEST 2016 Thank you to all who have stepped up to chair Octoberfest Committee. We will still need lots of help on October 2nd, the day of Octoberfest, and could use someone willing to run a Euchre tournament after 5:00 pm Saturday night mass follow-ing the turkey and dressing sandwiches. Please contact Julie or Dan Neebel at 563-556-0259 if you are willing to run the tournament. The Octoberfest committee is working to make October 2nd a great community event for parishioners of all ages. We still need your homemade craft items, Silent Auction treasures, lightly used toys for the new “kids garage sale” and seed money to help start things out and defray initial expenses. There will still be all the fun of the wheels, craft corner, bingo, and expanded kids’ games, plus a wonderful meal. All this and some new surprises for both young and old. Watch for the parish newsletter for more hints of great things to come and who to con-tact with your donations.
