May 24, 2020 Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord
Reflections on today's Gospel
MATTHEW 28:16-20 (Acts 1:1-11; Psalm 47; Ephesians 1:17-23)
KEY VERSE: "And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age" (v. 20).
TO KNOW: When Jesus' mission on earth was completed, "in the fullness of time" (Greek: pleroma kairos) he ascended to the Father, filling all of creation with his divine presence. During his earthly ministry, Jesus' mission was to the "lost sheep of the House of Israel" (Mt 10:6). At his ascension he expanded his mission to encompass the whole world, fulfilling the promise to Abraham that in him, all nations would be blessed (Gn 18:18). Jesus reassured his disciples by promising them that his abiding presence and authority would sustain them in their mission as they baptized in the name of the Father, Son and Spirit. In his ascension to the Father, Jesus went before us so that we might grow into the "fullness" of the stature of the children of God. At his birth, Jesus was called "Emmanuel," which means, "God is with us" (Matt 1:23). The Spirit of the Risen Christ continues be with the Church to guide and protect it until the end of time.
TO LOVE: In what ways am I empowered to continue Jesus' work on earth?
TO SERVE: Risen Lord, be with our Church in times of joy and times of trial.

During this difficult time in our community, we have served many families that have never needed food pantry assistance before. Our pantry needs have continued to grow with
more demand in specific areas. As you can understand, there is a need for disinfectants, hand sanitizers, and surgical masks and gloves. We are also in need of all toi-letry items and general household supplies.
As for the food supply, our most needed item is meat. If you are able to donate any quantities of fresh or frozen meat, direct from grocery store to Saint Raphael pantry, please call the church office to set an appointment so the food pantry will be able to transfer the meat immediately into freezer space. We ask that you do not bring meat from home freezers as this could potentially create a health risk. Thank you for your continued support. For appointment please call 479-756-6711.

Prayer for Priests
Gracious and loving God, we thank you for the gift of our priests.
Through them, we experience your presence in the sacraments.
Help our priests to be strong in their vocation.
Set their souls on fire with love for your people.
Grant them the wisdom, understanding, and strength they need
to follow in the footsteps of Jesus. Inspire them with the vision
of your Kingdom.
Give them the words they need to spread the Gospel.
Allow them to experience joy in their ministry.
Help them to become instruments of your divine grace.
We ask this through Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns as our Eternal Priest.
Amen.

This family of 8 has decided to create a missalette that is appealing to children and not “boring” as Grace has said. They each play an important part in this family operation and take care of everything from Sales to Marketing and moral support. With help from Travis McAfee, another long time St .Raphael parishioner, they have been able to get a Kickstarter page going and have online illustrations.

Financial Report-May 2020
3rd weekend of the month
OUR PARISH STILL NEEDS YOUR HELP: Our only means of support is your generosity.
While we are still unable to all come together each week for Mass, we ask that you still try to maintain your weekly donation to the church. We know that we are living through some difficult times, but we do appreciate your generosity.
Please place your weekly donation in the brass mail slot just outside the front entrance at circle drive. There will be a sign with an arrow to help show you the location. Other great options are to sign up for online giving or mail your donations. Our staff checks for dropped off donations daily.
