Farming people are different in many ways, and that’s one of the reasons why we’re looking forward to exhibiting for the first time. They’re independent, resourceful, and usually have a lot to do in a limited amount of time. When it is time to plant/harvest/feed/shear (delete whichever is not applicable) then things must happen quickly. A farmer wants more than a bakkie – he wants a fast bakkie. So in honour of this kind of businessman we’ve coined a new phrase: Superbakkie. It sums up what our Supercharged conversions are all about. It takes (in most cases) a double cab with an under-stressed petrol V6 and turns it into a luxurious workhorse with a bit of attitude and a turn of speed that’ll help get the job done! But even if you don’t work the land, a Superbakkie will suit your lifestyle; whether it revolves around camping, 4x4ing and towing – or just owning a light commercial vehicle that can hold its own in any performance driving scenario. Anyone who doesn’t realise thesignificance of the agricultural sectorshould head to NAMPO in the middleof May – it is a BIG show with somelarger than life machinery and largerthan life (physically and otherwise)individuals! Farming people are different in manyways, and that’s one of the reasons whywe’re looking forward to exhibiting forthe first time. They’re independent, resourceful, and usually have a lot to

Nissan’s all-wheel-drive GTR supercarrequires no introduction and despiteits impressive credentials in stockform, most owners want more…With the R35 GT-R the sky is thelimit (we know of individuals whohave spent – literally – millions tobuild radical versions), and like mostthings where you want long-termhappiness then you’ve got to do twothings: understand customerexpectations and do your homework. In this instance, the customer waslooking for 1 000 horsepower, oraround 750kW. That’s a figure thatmeans some extensive internalupgrades are required (standardoutput of the latest GT-R is 408kW)and changes include forged rods andcrankshaft and an increase in capacityto over four litres.Enlarged turbochargers and

intercoolers, and a high performanceexhaust system, were then bolted on. With the motor and ancillariesdone, we turned to the managementsystem and one of the most respectednames in the field is Syvecs, whichmakes an ECU specifically for theGT-R. It allows everything to be managedand fine-tuned – from boost per gear,to the traction control, to gearshiftspeed, to turbo response, to fuelquality and type! By the time we were done, it wasthe most powerful cars to ever turnthe rollers at RGMotorsport inStrydom Park and when the dust hadsettled it produced a whopping 938horses, or exactly 700kW! With a moreaggressive state of tune planned, themagical 1000hp figure the customerspecified is definitely attainable.

Audi’s S3 is positioned as a slightlybetter-mannered and more maturealternative to the Golf R. Recentlyfacelifted, the S3 relies on the same2.0-litre turbocharged recipe, thoughwith an impressive 228kW instandard form. But with the right combination of

hardware and software we take thatfigure to 278kW (with 470Nm oftorque to back it up). As far ashardware is concerned, we fit aTechniflow downpipe and exhaustwith our flap-based ‘volume control’,and our famous Goliath cold airintake system. Once all thefabrication is done the car getshanded over to our dyno team whoinstall a PPS (plug-in power software)engine management module andthen optimise it on the rollers.Because of the similarities between

VW and Audi underbonnet layouts, the same recipe is used on Golf 7 Rand GTI – including Clubsport.

We’re hard at work preparingourselves for Tuner Wars at Tarltonon June 3 – now less than a monthaway. Our trophy-hunting Golf7 Rhas undergone a fresh round ofchanges and we’ve got sights set onbreaking into the 10-second bracket, the car having run a low-11 secondbefore. In April we were at a Tarltonmeeting and used it as a researchand development opportunity, including running on MickeyThompson Street R rubber andexperimenting with gearbox andclutch management to improve our 0 – 60-foot times – a critical measureof success in a drag race.Come June 3, we hope to have

taken another big step forward andThe Stiglet can’t wait to get backbehind the wheel!

HAPPY CUSTOMER

THE CHIPS ARE DOWNThe philosophy of the Unichip is that astock engine management map is a bitlike buying a suit off the rack – withinits specified size, it is still designed tofit the vast majority of guys who needa Small, Medium or Large suit. But itwill only fit a few of them perfectly. With a Unichip we piggyback on the

factory ECU and modify various fuel andignition (amongst others) parameters tomake that specific engine as good as it canbe – we turn it into the equivalent of atailor-made suit. It is about efficiency, and in this age of

soaring petrol prices, it is worthconsidering for you daily driver becauseyou’ll get the best of both worlds:improved performance and betterconsumption. And Unichips are not just forturbocharged cars – read what an ownerof a normally-aspirated Subaru Foresterhad to say:

Thanks once again for the fantastic jobyou and the RGM team have doneinstalling and mapping the Unichip Q onmy 2014 Forester 2.0X. My initialimpressions are that the engine is so muchsmoother now and pulling much strongerat the low end of the rev range whilerevving up faster andsmoother to redline. Verymuch improved drivabilitywhich is what Iwanted; and thefree-flow exhaustnote has definitelyimproved.

Given the effortsyou guys went to toensure the job wasdone, and thequicker than

expected turnaround time considering thiswas the first 2.0 NA Subaru you hadinstalled and mapped – I wish to commendRGMotorsport on your professionalism andattention to detail.

I'm definitely a fan and will continue todo business with you into the future!

STANDARD DOWNPIPE

BMW M2 TECHNIFLOW DE-CAT DOWNPIPE

In celebration of a quarter-century ofbuilding fast Beemers, RGMotorsport hasadded an M2 upgrade to their performancepalette. It’s not our most radical car by along shot, but gentle massaging by ourtechnical team gives it a harder edge.Watch the video here:

https://youtu.be/jt1h3BWKMm0 In stock form the M2 makes a useful 272 kW

and 465 Nm and BMW claim a 4.5 zero to 100km/h sprint – dropping to 4.3 with the optionaldouble-clutch 7-speed ‘box. Those numberswould’ve in all likelihood been achieved with theoverboost function, which unleashes a burst of500 Nm. This customer opted for an RGM-Techniflow

de-cat exhaust downpipe (watch here to see ourwelding craftsmen at work) and our plug-inpower software (PPS), a combination which hasseen the M2 morph into a 300 kW/580Nmbeastie. He’s happy, we’re happy and while wehaven’t put it up against the clock, we reckonit’ll get pretty close to breaking into the four-second bracket – which means there’s very littleother than true exotica which will beat it awayfrom the lights.
