GOSPEL MEDITATION - ENCOURAGE DEEPER UNDERSTANDING OF SCRIPTURE
May 17, 2020 Sixth Sunday of Easter We hope for many things: passing an exam, finding our true love, securing sustainable work, or surviving an illness. We often seek to have God be a part of what we hope for and desire, almost trying to convince Him that our agenda is what is ultimately important. While our particular hopes may appear to be what needs to be achieved in order for us to be happy, they really are not. Our lesser, more personal hopes can distract us from true hope. When God became a human being, a powerful message was sent: all that is authentically human is found in the divine. As the human Jesus lived and died in order to show us that he truly is the universal

PRAYER NETWORKS
Pray Always (Luke 21:36). Pray without ceasing (I Thessalonians 5:17). Lumen Christi Parish has two confidential Prayer Networks, made up of parishioners who have offered to pray for your needs. If you are in need of prayers or would like to become involved in either Prayer Network, please contact (1) Georgia at 242-2567 or [email protected], or (2) Lucy at 414-220-0448 or [email protected].
WE ARE HERE TO ASSIST

assistance or you need help and would like to contact a Lumen Christi St Vincent de Paul Society member, please call the Parish Office at 262-242-7967.
MAY 17, 2020 - 6TH SUNDAY OF EASTER "For it is better to suffer for doing good, if that be
God’s will, than for doing evil.” (1 Peter 3:17)
The old line says “if you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans.” Many of us are diligent in our planning and making sure things are progressing smoothly. Then disaster strikes, we don’t get the result that was intended or an unforeseen problem arises. Many times we may respond negatively and ask, “Why me? I did everything right!” Here’s the thing – adversity humbles us and reminds us of our dependence on God and not on our own self-reliance. Rest assured, God has a better plan in store for you.
May 16 - 24, 2020 marks Laudato Si week. During this week, which marks the 5th anniversary of the publication of Pope Francis’ encyclical “On the Care for Our Common Home”, Catholics from around the world are
uniting in solidarity for a more just and sustainable future. Resources are available online at: Laudatosiweek.org. Additionally, Amy Kroll, High School Minister, and Catherine Orr, Pastoral Associate, will be providing short video reflections each month to celebrate Caring for God’s Creation year-round.
LAUDATO SI
EMPLOYMENT NETWORK
The Lumen Christi Employment Network has helped well over 807 job seekers find positions over the past sixteen years. During this time of “Safer at Home” they continue to meet via Zoom. Please contact Pat Cronin at [email protected] with any questions.
The parish Human Concerns Commission has committed itself to discerning and responding to the needs of the parish, the community and throughout the world by sharing resource numbers on three issues of concern: unplanned pregnancies, domestic and sexual violence, and human trafficking. · Women’s Care Center provides free, confidential
counseling, support and education to anyone facing an unplanned pregnancy. Call the helpline at 1-877-908-2341.
· Advocates of Ozaukee works to end domestic and
sexual violence through education, prevention, and intervention services. Call their 24 hour crisis line at 1-877-375-4034.
· Human trafficking is when an individual is compelled to
work or engage in commercial sexual exploitation or forced labor. If you believe you may have information about a trafficking situation, please call the toll-free National Human Trafficking Hotline at 1-888-373-7888 where advocates are available 24/7 to take reports of potential human trafficking.
Thank you in advance for your help in raising awareness on these topics, and if you have any questions, please call the parish office at 262-242-7967.

ADOPT A HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR 2020
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, high school seniors are missing out on so many memorable moments. From proms, graduations and college tours being cancelled to not being able to spend these last few months with their friends, the seniors are missing out on many memorable events. For those of us who had the opportunity to experience these amazing events, we know how important those memories were to us. Though we can't replace these amazing events, we can help the class of 2020 feel special and uplift them during these unprecedented times. That's why the High School Catholic Formation department has decided to follow in the footsteps of the Milwaukee adopt a senior event and create an "Adopt a high school senior" program for our Lumen Christi students. We invite our high school seniors of 2020 and parishioners to sign-up for this program so that our high school seniors can be showered with love and support from our Lumen Christi parishioners. More details provided on the sign-up sheets. Sign-Up your Senior for the Program at https://forms.gle/tpq78sj5mPYosLRt7 Sign-Up to “adopt” a senior at https://forms.gle/LsHeP892Lc74C7ZK7 Or please see our website site for links to the sign-up.
