Why Implement STEM?

YEAR I

• CCR Obtains STEM Accreditation

• All Teachers/Admin become STEM Certified

• All Teachers Complete Thinking Maps and Engineering Model Training

• All Grade Levels Integrate 2 Science Units Cross Curricular

• Establish Partnerships with SRP, Toyota, ASU and Other Businesses

• Begin 1 or More After School STEM Clubs per quarter

• CCR hosts 1 Sci Tech Festival Event for Parents and Community Members

• CCR will begin STEM Project(s) Planning for Years 2 & 3, such as Gardens, Outdoor Sci Lab, or Desert Animal Habitat

• CCR will complete at least 5 STEM GRANTS

• CCR will begin tracking all 8th Graders entering PBHS in the STEM Diploma Program

• Student Advisory Board – Students participate in school decisions

YEAR II

• CCR K-8 will continue and build on all of Year I Implementations

• CCR K-8 STEM ACADEMY will

become an FUSD Signature School Requiring Student Uniforms

• CCR will build an 8th Grade STEM Cohort Block

• All Grade Levels will participate in a Project Based Learning Experience – in conjunction with the School STEM Project(s)

• All Grade Levels will host local STEM Business Guest Speakers each semester

• K-5 Grade Levels will host a Science Thematic Unit Showcase for parents and community members

• CCR will complete additional STEM GRANTS

• Students & Teachers demonstrate learning

• CCR will increase the number of 8th Graders enrolling in the PBHS STEM Diploma Program

YEAR III

• CCR K-8 will continue and build on all of Year I & II Implementations

• CCR K-8 STEM ACADEMY will begin construction on the School STEM Project(s)

• - Outdoor Sci Lab• - Desert Animal Habitat• - Green House• - Weather Stations

• CCR will increase the 8th Grade STEM Cohort to 2 Blocks

• All K-8 Teachers will have necessary STEM Resources for Quarterly Integration across all subject areas

• Interdisciplinary

• Maintain & Support Grants and Business Partnerships

I understand that if CCR K-8 becomes a STEM CERTIFIED SCHOOL there will be a “3-Year Integration Plan” in order to obtain certification, train staff, and obtain the necessary curriculum materials across multiple core subject areas. I am excited about this opportunity for my child and support this positive initiative at CCR.
