HUGS
A mom’s hug lasts long after she lets go. —Anonymous
Dear Parishioners: Thank you to all families who dropped-off food and supported the Graybeards collection for St. Mary Star of the Sea Parish. Much was collected due to your generosity.
On Tuesday, May 12th, at 12:30pm we will crown the statue of Mary in front of the Parish Office at St. Thomas More. We are in the process of a lottery to choose the child who gets the honors. Remember to pray a Hail Mary each day during the month of May as we ask the Blessed Mother to heal us, and restore our lives. Each morning, one family/child/teen leads the parish in the Hail Mary. You can see these prayers on Facebook.
The church bells are ringing. In addition to the Mass call and Angelus that normally ring, there is a 3pm Bells of Hope ringing of the bells at all three churches and the 7pm playing of the National Anthem for the 7pm Clap. Head-up, we will get through this.
Finally, a Happy Mother’s Day to all the Mothers, Grandmothers, and Godmothers. This year we bought palm branches for each of you, but we still are not able to give them out. In any case, thank you for saying yes to LIFE and for supporting FAMILIES.
Have a great week! -Fr. Gelfant
Blessed Trinity Mission Statement Washed by the waters of the sea and blessed with
generations of faithful worship we, a trinity of churches: Saint Edmund, Saint Genevieve and Saint Thomas More, stand united in our mission. To embrace the presence of Christ in our community and strive to assist all to deepen their relationship with the Lord. To seek to be a parish of service and comfort to all. To commit ourselves to be a
vessel through which our Catholic heritage and traditions may be preserved and grow so that our parish may flourish
in the Spirit of the Lord.
The 2020 Annual Catholic Appeal supports the daily work of our Church throughout Brooklyn and Queens in ways no one parish can accomplish alone by supporting the following ministries:
Catholic Youth Ministry Initiative, Catholic Charities; Hospital, College and Prison Chaplains; Diocesan Vocations Office; Catholic Migration Services; Office of Faith Formation; Bishop Mugavero Residence for infirmed clergy; Futures in Education Scholarship Foundation
WE HAVE BEGUN OUR CAMPAIGN. PLEASE MAIL IN YOUR PLEDGE AND HELP US REACH GOAL. THANK YOU! –Fr. Gelfant
WEEKLY ENVELOPES If you are just returning to Blessed Trinity after spending the winter in warmer climates, welcome back! Sometimes due to the erratic mail delivery here in Breezy your envelopes may not have arrived on time. If you need a set of temporary envelopes please call the
rectory at (718) 634-6357 and leave a message for Marlene or email Marlene at [email protected] A set of envelopes will be left in your mailbox. Thank you for your generosity and faithfulness to our parish.
What Makes Good Mothers? It is a pertinent question whose answer cannot be contained within a few words. Mothers are comprised of a bundle of emotions that sometimes defy reason. So this goes out to all the mothers who have been kept awake all night with their sick toddlers in their arms, constantly uttering those compassionate words, "It's OK, honey, Mommy's here." For all the mothers who run carpools and make cookies and sew Halloween costumes. And all the mothers who don't. For those who show up at work with milk stains on their dress and diapers in their handbags. For those mothers who cannot restrain tears from trickling down their cheeks when they hold their babies for the first time in their arms; and for the mothers who give birth to babies they'll never see. For the mothers who gave homes to babies and gifted them a family. For the mothers who defy all odds just to watch their kid perform and repeat to themselves "That's my child!!" For all the mothers who read "Goodnight, Moon" twice a night for a year, and then read it again. "Just one more time." For the mothers who taught their children to tie their shoelaces even before they started going to school. For the mothers who silently shed tears for their children who have gone astray. For all those mothers whose heart aches to watch their son or daughter disappear down the street, walking to school alone for the very first time. So, this is meant for all the young and aged mothers, working mothers and homemakers, married mothers and the single mothers, those with money and without and for those without whom life would have been insufferable. Wishing you a very Happy Mother's Day!!
Most Holy Virgin, who came to Fatima to reveal to the three little shep-herds the treasures of graces hidden in the praying of the Rosary, Inspire our hearts with a sincere love of this devotion, so that by
meditating on the mysteries of our redemption that are recalled in it, we may gather the fruits and obtain the conversion of sinners, the
conversion of Russia, and this favor that I so earnestly seek (mention your request) which I ask of you in this novena, for the greater glory of
God, for your own honor and for the good of all people. Amen. (Pray the Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be
three times each)
