Maundy Thursday Eucharist of the Lord’s Supper
Dec 26, 2015
Maundy ThursdayEucharist of the Lord’s Supper
Lord God, your love has called us here,as we, by love, for love were made.Your living likeness still we bear, though marred, dishonoured, disobeyed. We come with all our heart and mindyour call to hear, your love to find.
We come with self-inflicted painsof broken trust and chosen wrong,half-free, half-bound by inner chains,by social forces swept along,by powers and systems close confined, yet seeking hope for humankind.
Lord God, in Christ you call our name, and then receive us as your own,not through some merit, right or claim, but in your gracious love alone. We strain to glimpse your mercy seat, and find you kneeling at our feet.
Then take the towel, and break the bread, and humble us and call us friends.Suffer and serve till all are fed,and show how grandly love intendsto work till all creation sings,to fill all worlds, to crown all things.
Lord God, in Christ you set us freeyour life to live, your joy to share.Give us your Spirit's libertyto turn from guilt and dull despairand offer all that faith can do,while love is making all things new.

and Holy Spirit
The Lord be with you
And also with you
Almighty God, to whom all hearts are open, all desires known, and from whom no secrets are hidden;cleanse the thoughts of our heartsby the inspiration of Your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love Youand worthily magnify Your holy name;through Christ our Lord. Amen
As the heart longs for flowing streams
so our hearts long for You, O God. Lord, have mercy
Lord, have mercy
We come to Your altar, O God,where the sparrow finds her homeand the broken find bred for the
journeyChrist, have mercy.
Christ, have mercy.
Gently, You bathe us in Your love, humbling us, calling us friends.Lord, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy.

The Foot Washing
Remember the words of Jesus, love one another as I have loved you.
Kneels at the feet of his friends, silently washes their feet: master who acts as a slave to them. Yesu, Yesu, fill us with your love, show us how to servethe neighbours we have from you.
Neighbours are wealthy and poor, varied in colour and race, neighbours are near us and far away.
Yesu, Yesu, …..
These are the ones we should serve, these are the ones we should love; all these are neighbours to us and you.
Yesu, Yesu, fill us with your love, show us how to servethe neighbours we have from you.
Loving puts us on our knees, silently washing their feet, this is the way we should live with you.

Prayer of the People
The response to the prayers:
God of gracehear us and humble us
Holy God,Our hands were unclean, our hearts were unprepared;we were not fit even to eat the crumbs from under Your table. But You, Lord, are the God of our salvation, and share Your bread with sinners. So cleanse us and feed uschallenge us and change usthat he may live in us and we in him;and that we, with the whole company of Christ, may feast in Your kingdom. Amen
Greeting of Peace
Now in union with Christ Jesusyou who were once far offhave been brought nearthrough the shedding of Christ's blood;for Christ is our peace.
The peace of the Lord be always with youAnd also with you
A new commandment I give unto you that you love one another as I have loved you, that you love one another as I have loved you. By this will others know that you are my disciples if you have love one for another; by this will others know that you are my disciples if you have love one for another.

Holy Communion
Prayer after Communion
Into one we are all gatheredthrough the love of Christ.Let us then rejoice with gladness. In him we find love.Let us fear and love the living God,and love and cherish each other
Where charity and love are, there is God.
Therefore, when we are togetherin the love of Christ, let our minds know no division, strife, or
bitterness.May the Christ, our blessed Saviour,be in our midst.Through Christ our Lord all love is found.
Where charity and love are, there is God.
May we see Your face in glory,Christ our loving Teacher. With the blessed saints of heaven, give us lasting joy.We will then possess true happiness, and love for all eternity.
Where charity and love are, there is God.
We hail your presence glorious,O Christ our great high priest, O’er sin and death victoriousAt your thanksgiving feast:As you are interceding For us in heaven above, Your church on earth is pleadingYour perfect work of love.
Through you in every nationYour own their hearts upraise,Offering one pure oblation,One sacrifice of praise:With you in blest communionThe living and the deadAre joined in closest union,One body with one head.
O living bread from heaven, Jesus, our Saviour good, Who your own self has givenTo be our souls’ true food; For us your body brokenHung on the cross of shame:This bread its hallowed token,We break in your dear name.
O stream of love unending, Poured from the one true vine, With our weak nature blending The strength of love divine; Our thankful faith confessingIn your life-blood outpoured,We drink this cup of blessingAnd praise your name, O Lord.
