Can you believe it’s August already? Time flies when you're having fun. At the beginning of July, Amy and I attended the Grand Lodge National Convention in San Antonio, TX. It was a great and very informative time. We met many wonderful Elks from all over the country. We were very thrilled to be able to attend such a special event, espe- cially given that it is the 150th anniver- sary of the Elks. My full report and vot- ing record will be available from the Lodge office as soon as I complete it. Amy and I would like to thank the Lodge for sending us to San Antonio. Along with my report on the conven- tion, there will be a Limited Edition 150 years of Elkdom book available for all of you to look at. I will be making this book available in the lounge. Please keep the book at the Lodge, as there is only the one copy, and I would like everyone to have an opportunity to read through it. I will also be adding a number of new pins to our pin board that I acquired from trading at the convention, so keep a look out for those! Finally, as we move towards the end of summer and into the fall, please continue to keep coming and supporting our Lodge through your patronage, charity, and volunteering. We (the officers of the Lodge) really appreciate it. Thanks! Note from the SecretaryHello All,Thank you to those of you who have become more concerned and interested in lodge
activities. As we have mentioned before, we are all members here and each of us shouldcare about what goes on here.
When you choose to volunteer or help out at the lodge, please fill out a charitabledonation report. These are available in the office. These reports are sent in monthly tothe district, state and national Elks. They help the Elks keep its C138 non-profit stand-ing with the government.
Last year, (4/1/17 – 4/31/18), the State of Ohio Elks contributed in time, cash, andmiles traveled $8,751,683.45 and nationally the figure was $675,985,245.00. TheGrand Lodge accomplished the goal of 400 million that they were shooting for on our150th year. Congratulations to all of us.
Please welcome back Kevin Haddad who transferred from Toledo. He was sworn inas our Esteemed Lecturing Knight at the last Lodge meeting. If you see him, pleasethank him for filling our open position.
Please remember that on band nights, when the curtains are closed and you chooseto attend the music events, those evenings are considered private parties. Please refrainfrom taking bar popcorn and your own snacks into the ballroom.
Again, let me thank all of you who have stepped up, attended meetings and helpedus manage activities for the Lodge. You are greatly appreciated.
Hope to see you at the Lodge.Kathy
