Asacoresubjectstudentswillhave8hoursofMathslessonsperfortnightfromYear7–11.InthefirstfewweeksofYear7studentsaretaughtwithintheirtutorgroups,theywillundergoaninitialassessmentandthiswillbeusedtogroupthemintoteachingsets.Settingwillbereviewedregularlyaftereachassessmenttoensurethatstudentsareinclasseswheretheywillbeabletomakegoodprogresswhilstbeingappropriatelychallenged.
StudentsbegintostudytheGCSEspecificationinYear9.Initiallyitisexpectedthatallstudentsinsets1-3willbepreparedtosittheHighertierpapers(Grades4-9)whilstthoseinsets4and5willbepreparedtosittheFoundationtierpapers(Grades1–5).Finaldecisionsontiersofentrywon’tbemadeuntilafterChristmasofYear11.
