1. Patterning Flowers• Print and laminate the flowers. Cut out the flower
circles. Place a chenille sticker behind the top of each flower for the stem and secure with tape.
• You will also need some beads (supervision required throughout activity).
• Option 1 – Read the number and place that number of beads on the flower stem. You can create a pattern or simply count.
• Option 2 – Choose a flower and look at the pattern in the middle. Use the beads to create a pattern on the stem e.g. AB – blue, yellow, blue, yellow. Some modelling is required with each type of pattern so the kids know what to do.

Spring FlowersPatterning Cards
Aim: To copy, continue and create patterns.
Materials required:• Patterning mats• Colored pom poms or counters- Pink, blue, yellow, purple, orange, green, red• Fine motor tools e.g. tweezers, small tongs, children’s chopsticks
How to play:• Think about a pattern you can make e.g. ABC – blue, pink, yellow,
blue, pink yellow.• Create a pattern on the flowers using pom poms or counters.• Tip – You can use fine motor tools to pick up the pom poms.
Counting Flowers
Aim: To copy, continue and create patterns.
Materials required:• Colored beads• Chenille sticks with numbers attached
How to play:• Choose a flower and read the number.• Place that number of beads on the stem.
Extension:• Create a pattern with the beads on the stem.• Create a pattern on flowers with the pattern labels (e.g. AB – red,
