Nanotechnology definition (NNI, February 2000)Research and technology development at the atomic, molecular ormacromolecular levels, in the length scale of approximately 1 - 100nanometer range, to provide a fundamental understanding of phenomenaand materials at the nanoscale and to create and use structures, devicesand systems that have novel properties and functions because of their smalland/or intermediate size. The novel and differentiating properties andfunctions are developed at a critical length scale of matter typically under100 nm. Nanotechnology research and development includes manipulationunder control of the nanoscale structures and their integration into largermaterial components, systems and architectures. Within these larger scaleassemblies, the control and construction of their structures and componentsremains at the nanometer scale. In some particular cases, the critical lengthscale for novel properties and phenomena may be under 1 nm (e.g.,manipulation of atoms at ~0.1 nm) or be larger than 100 nm (e.g.,nanoparticle reinforced polymers have the unique feature at ~ 200-300 nmas a function of the local bridges or bonds between the nano particles andthe polymer).

NO2 Sensor
SAW sensor based on a two-port resonator 433.92 MHz oscillatorusing Carbon Nanotubes

Process RoutineCNTs have been dispersed into two distinct solvents:a) ethanol or b) toluene
• SWCNTs (4 mg) dispersed at 0.5 mg/ml
• MWCNTs (20 mg) dispersed at 5.0 mg/ml
The suspensions have been sonicated for 10 minutes
The CNTs films are spray-painted onto SAW transducer
