Dear customers,

Are you interested in Requirements Management, Requirements

Engineering or Business Analysis? Are you involved in IT projects

as a Project Manager, System Analyst, Developer or Test Speci-

alist? Are you responsible for establishing an organization for a

Project Management O$ce (PMO) or Business Analysis Center of

Excellence (BACoE)?

Our course portfolio speci%cally addresses these challenges of

Business Analysis and Project Management on an expert level,

delivering state-of-the-art Know-How and best practices. We are

convinced that for your professional career, only the best should

be considered.

Certainly, there are many courses and regionally valid certi%cates,

achievable with not much e#ort. But in the global world of today

only international certi%cates are well accepted, at least they are

more valued than national ones.

In the light of this, responsible manager in IT, Business and HR

should carefully decide for the appropriate methodology regar-

ding Business Analysis and Project Management.

In masVenta, we do not compromise and have consequently

specialized ourselves in teaching according to the two leading

standards, the BABOK® Guide by the International Institute of

Business Analysis® and the PMBOK® by the Project Management

Institute®. We support individuals and companies with methodo-

logy-aligned and endorsed courses to prepare for the exams and

surely achieve the CCBA®/ CBAP® and/or PMP® certi%cations.

Our Business Analysis Curriculum allows the combination of in-

dividual education plans, satisfying most of the training’s needs

comprehensively. And if there are special requirements, masVen-

ta is a competent partner to develop courses and programs indi-

vidually tailored for your organization.

Ultimately, a professional education proved through well-known

certi%cates provides signi%cant competitive advantage on many

levels, whether for individual contractors, for consultancy %rms,

or in tenders for new projects.

masVenta Business GmbH only works with very experienced,

certi%ed trainers who are themselves actively engaged in various

industry projects as Business Analysts or Project Managers. This

ensures a strong practical relevance - what has been learned can

be implemented immediately and leads to noticeable improve-

ments and cost savings in your projects.

As a matter of fact, more than 50% of all IT projects su#er from

weak or insu$cient requirements and poor communication.

masVenta is a specialist in integration of the two key disciplines

Business Analysis and Project Management and helps your orga-

nization to identify the areas where education and/or engage-

ment of masVenta’s experts leads to improvements.

Why Business Analysis?

Business Analysis comprises Requirements Engineering and more. But what exactly distinguis-

hes Business Analysis from traditional Requirements Engineering and who in the project team

is responsible for this? This Getting Started course generally handles the question about the

meaning of Business Analysis in a project. As a large percentage of projects still fail due to insuf-

$cient or misunderstood requirements, Business Analysis is gaining more and more attention.

By carefully considering Stakeholder needs and expectations, Business Analysis goes far bey-

ond Requirements Engineering, to mention only one of the topics which make the di#erence.

By working on case studies, the participants

will be shown structured approaches. Using

the results, the students can discover the

necessary requirements, prioritize and va-

lidate them. This is very important because

primarily those requirements which are re-

lated to Business needs should be brought

to realization.

Document “good“ Requirements; clear,

precise and complete

Use simple templates to capture di#erent

kinds of requirements

Use models to e#ectively work out requi-

rements, to analyse, document and trace

requirements until they can be packaged

and communicated to Business in order

to get an approval

Leverage the Project success with requi-

rements which satisfy the Business Need

Reduce re-work on requirements by

ensuring to initially get the right requi-

rements

Reduce gaps of understanding by

continuously verifying and validating

requirements

This course is specially catered to beginners

of Business Analysis and Requirements

Engineering. By working on case studies,

the participants will be shown structured

approaches. Using the results, the students

can discover the necessary requirements,

phrase and validate them.

Most Business Analysts and people dealing

with Requirements Engineering come from

the IT area. Business Analysis is often used

within an IT project.

Business Analyse

The term Business Analysis can be under-

stood in various ways, similar to Project

Management. The International Institute of

Business Analysis (IIBA) in Toronto, Canada,

de$nes Business Analysis as a collection

of approaches and techniques to under-

stand the structure and the rules within an

organization as well as its employees and

then to suggest solutions in order to help

the organization.

Solutions do not automatically lead to IT-

Solutions; however, nowadays nearly every

large improvement is only possible because

of IT or is at least supported by it.

Potential

These days, there are many organizations

with e#ective project management sys-

tems. However, Business Analysis is not that

far developed. This means that Require-

ments Management is mostly done by em-

ployees or the Project Manager themselves.

There is large room for improvement

as weaknesses always damage projects and

maybe even stop them from being

e#ective. It is quite obvious that a project

cannot be successful if the needs are not

understood properly and the problems are

not solved. The process of learning only by

mistakes takes too long and is too expensi-

ve to be useful in the business landscape of

the 21st century.

Content

Participants will be shown how to deal with

Requirements Speci$cations and Solution

Concepts and will work on appropriate case

studies. They will also learn the importance

of distinguishing between ‘what‘ and

‘how‘. We also concentrate on stakeholder

management and dealing with ongoing

changes or upgrades, so called moving

targets.

It is now well recognized ...

... that requirements are critical to the success of any major project. According to SEI’s Square Project the

total percentage of project budget due to requirements defects is 25 to 40 percent and costs the econo-

my $59.5 billion annually! As a result, a planned requirements approach is essential to a successful and

smooth-running project. Just like the project itself needs a project plan, the requirements process needs a

requirements plan.

To be e%ective and to provide value to the project and to the organization, Business Analysts must be able

to develop a requirements plan and have a thorough understanding of what activities they will perform,

what deliverables they will produce, and how they will control and manage changes to those deliverables.

To assimilate the tools and techniques

Enterprise Analysis ...

... is in Requirements Engineering something which is conducted only recently. Traditionally, Business requirements were just given to the technical personnel and – in best cases – somehow explained. Mostly the requirements contained already a solution or solution sketch. Nobody from the techni-cal department was asked to understand the Business Case or to question whether the suggested solution was the only alternative. This mindset is changing dramatically – modern Business Analysts or people who are working like that understand the Business and the real, underlying Business Need before they lock into a solution approach. Furthermore, it is mandatory to understand the gaps and obstacles which might exist in an enterprise and which do not allow to satisfy the Business Need.

During the course there are presentations

and exercises to immediately apply the

things which have been learnt by going

through a realistic case study. Participants

are asked to present the results before the

group and “sell” their initiatives by showing

plausible Business Cases. Furthermore, they

have to work on their own.

Learn how to

Use techniques to determine the real

Business Need

Identify gaps, shortcomings and obstac-

les which have to be reduced or removed

to satisfy the Business Need

Explore an approach to create a feasi-

ble solution, taking into consideration

various stakeholder concerns and other

constraints

Formulate the solution (product) scope

Calculate a Business Case

Recommend the best solution approach

or recommend to cancel the initiative

and who want to leverage their skills for the

Project Initiation phase. Colleagues from

Precise knowledge about customers and their needs and expectations help companies retaining or even extending their customer base and keeping churn rates low at the same time. This is not only provided by CRM IT solutions, CRM as such is a company-wide approach which comprises a strong vision supported by management, a sustainable employee’s attitude towards their cus-tomers and reliable business processes which are #nally supported by an appropriate IT.
