Background
• Housing1000 is Santa Clara County’s local 100,000 home campaign– Leadership team was looking for an innovative
way to garner individual donations to support the program
– Wanted to use technology– Crowd-funding ( or micro –donations) idea was
born
Crowd-funding basics
• Considerations:– Build something new?– Build on donation platforms already out there?
Ultimate decision: Cost• Messaging– Wanted something simple• Solution: info -graphics• Build web page to work with secondary vendor

• We wish we would have built this before registry week - we would have had an online liability waiver with a link to the HousingONE donation page
• It can be difficult to get the stories, so start this right from the beginning
• Nominate one or two people to develop & approve design
• Social networking is a powerful tool: be careful what you post!
