ASSUMPTION ACADEMY 2019 News

In June we say Goodbye! As the school year comes to a close, we say “goodbye” to some and “see you soon” to others. It is a bittersweet time of year. The children have all grown so very much in size, in faith, and in intellect. Watching their progress is truly a joy. Nothing we do here at Assumption Academy could happen without the support of this wonderful Parish. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for giving us the opportunity to serve the smallest of God’s children. So many wonderful things are already being planned for next year. If you would like to be a part of it all, please feel free to call the school for volunteer information at 610-688-5277.

Calling All Ladies!

Please join us at OLA for an informal 5-week session to read & discuss the book “Into His Likeness: Be Transformed as a Disciple of Christ” by Edward Sri. 2nd session will be held on Wed., June 26, from 7 PM-8:30 PM in the Sacred Heart Chapel. Even if you couldn’t make the 1st session, we’d love to have you join us. Amazon carries the paperback book for under $12. If possible, please order your book before June 26th to read pages 23-55. Pastor’s Corner

My Dear Parishioners, This weekend we will celebrate the beau-tiful feast of Corpus Christi. We will observe this feast with a solemn outdoor Procession with the Blessed Sacrament following the 11:30 AM Mass. I invite everyone to participate & process together as we publicly witness to our faith & give due honor to our Lord & His abiding Presence among us in the Eucharist. Many of you have heard by now that Sr. Kathleen Fitzpatrick, IHM is being transferred from our parish. Sr. Rita Marian who will take her place. In light of this transi-tion, it has been decided that we will suspend our weekly celebration of Children’s Liturgy of the Word at the 10 AM Sunday Mass during the summer. We will keep you updated as to when we will resume it in the Fall through the parish bulletin as well as pulpit announcements. Finally, this weekend I would like to acknowledge in a special way 2 very special people who celebrate 40 years of devoted service to our parish. They are: Yolanda Calvarese and Rick West. Forty years ago, they both arrived here at Our Lady of the Assumption. Yolanda came as the Parish Cook & Rick as the Director of Music. I am sad to say that Yolanda is retiring after her many years of service. We are so grate-ful to her for her dedication throughout the years to cook & care for all of the priests who have served here. She certainly has spoiled us! We wish her well in her retirement. I thank her from the bottom of my heart for everything she has done for our parish and our priests. We will miss you, Yolanda! Likewise, I am also grateful to Rick West who has given 40 years of service through the gift of providing sacred music for us, teaching us to weave palm, decorating our church throughout the liturgical year, encouraging our youth to perform in our music ministry and many other services within the rectory. The OLA Parish continues to be blessed by Rick’s dedication as our Director of Music! Thank you, Rick for all you have done for us through the years and for your beautiful music that continues to help us pray & worship God each week! May God continue to bless you & your families as we enjoy these beautiful months of summer! Love and prayers, Fr. Carey
