Dad was born to Timmy Nolan and Katie O’Toole Nolan in Clonmore, Templemore, Ireland, in 1926. He sailed to Canada in 1947 and married Bernadette O’Brian, a Canadian. They welcomed their Canadian children, Timothy and Rose, and after moving to the States in 1961, they welcomed John, Kevin & Catherine. Dad was a provider who raised his family in Simi Valley, and worked for Anheuser-Busch. After his retirement, he settled in Manteca, California. Life wasn’t always perfect, but there was unconditional love through good times and bad. Dad always looked forward to his trips back home to Ireland to spend time and to raise a toast with family and friends. Even at the age of 95, our father’s favorite pastime was reading subjects of all sorts but he favored books on Ireland, history, and current affairs.
Dad is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Bernadette, his son Timothy and his siblings Monica, Biddy and Paddy. He is remembered by his sister Peggy, sister-in-law Mary of Ireland, his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Thank you all for your kind words, cards and prayers for dad. They are truly appreciated. —Fr. Kevin Nolan

Act of Spiritual Communion
My Jesus, I believe you are really here in the Blessed Sacrament. I love you more than anything in the world, and I hunger to receive you. But since I cannot receive Communion at this moment, feed my soul at least spiritually. I unite myself to you now as I do when I actually receive you. Amen.

First Reading: Acts of the Apostles 4:8-12 Psalm: 118:1, 8-9, 21-23, 26, 28, 29 Second Reading: 1 John 3:1-2 Gospel: John 10:11-18 “I am the good shepherd, and I know mine and mine know me, just as the Father knows me and I know the Father. “
—John 10:14-15 Scripture Focus:
During the Easter season, we look at how Jesus’ Resurrection continues to affect people’s lives. In the first reading from Acts, Peter heals a cripple in the manner and power of Jesus. In John’s Gospel, Jesus describes himself as a good shepherd. He knows his sheep by name, he knows their habits and traits. His sheep know him. His love for them is so great that he freely lays down his life for them. People who know each other in the deep way described in this passage share their thoughts, feelings and will. They become one heart and one mind. Each has no life without the other. Jesus and His Father know each other in that way. Now Jesus tells His followers that they too have a share in this depth and intimacy. Reflection:
1. Describe a fearful or hurting situation when someone was there for you.
2. Have you allowed the people in your life to come to know you, as Jesus knows His sheep? What gets in the way?
3. Relate the ways you are a good shepherd to your family and community.
Safeguard The Children
Did You Know? The Archdiocese continues helping survivors of sexual abuse and their families During National Child Abuse Prevention Month, and on behalf of Archbishop José H. Gomez, we affirm our continued commitment to report allegations of sexual misconduct to law enforcement, support victim-survivors in their healing journey, and protect children and the vulnerable. The Archdiocese created a website, https://protect.la-archdiocese.org/ that serves as a comprehensive tool containing resources, programs and services for protecting children and reporting abuse. If you, or someone you know, is a victim of sexual misconduct by someone affiliated with our Church, please contact law enforcement and the Archdiocese’s Victims Assistance Coordinator at (213) 637-7650 or visit https://lacatholics.org/reporting-child-abuse/ for help and support. In addition, Archbishop Gomez invites you to join him and many across the Archdiocese to the Novena for Protecting and Healing from Abuse, April 22-30. To join please visit https://lacatholics.org/united-together/.
Protegiendo a los Niños
¿Sabe Usted?
