Mass Intentions / Intenciones de la Santa Misa Masses are again open to the public, in a limited number and with social dis-tancing restrictions. If you choose to come, please wear a face covering, bring hand sanitizer, and sit only in the designated seats. A brief Communion Ser-vice will be offered on the courtyard at 9:00 am Monday-Saturday and at 10:00 am on Sundays. Confessions are being heard in the meeting rooms down the hall to the right of the main entrance to the church in Rooms 8 and 9. We are using these rooms so that the prescribed social distancing rules can be observed for your protection and ours. Outdoor Confessions-We are also offering outdoor confessions for people who prefer to avoid entering the building, weather permitting. The outdoor confessionals are under canopies to the right and left of the courtyard.

Queridos amigos, Esta semana tiene una serie de encuentros persona-les con Jesús en la Eucaristía. Están planificados y programados y aun así son personales e individua-les. No estoy siendo misterioso. Todas las tardes de lunes a viernes de esta semana, tendremos un grupo de jóvenes recibiendo la Primera Comunión. Algunos de ellos (el lunes por la noche) también serán bauti-zados y confirmados. Todos son el fruto de nuestro gran programa de Educación Religiosa y todos ellos recibirán ayuda de las oraciones de ustedes. Cada uno de nosotros nos ayudamos cuando nos encontramos con Jesús en la Sagrada Comunión y en la oración. Igualmente, lo podemos planificar y programar como cualquier otra cosa importante. Me alegra que muchos hayan podido regresar a recibir la Sagrada Comunión. También estoy seguro de que Jesús está cuidando a todos los que no pueden asis-tir a la Comunión en estos días. Mientras nos esforzamos por mejorar nuestros en-cuentros con Jesús, los invito a renovar esta semana, su devoción a Nuestra Señora. Después de las Misas del jueves 16 de julio, ofreceremos la imposición del Escapulario Marrón de Nuestra Señora del Monte Carmelo. También pueden participar para renovar su compromiso anterior. Dear Friends, This week has within it a number of personal encounters with Jesus in the Eucharist. They are planned and scheduled and still they are personal and individual. I’m not being myste-rious. Every weekday evening this week we will have a group of young people receiving First Holy Communion. Some of them (on Monday evening) will also be baptized and confirmed. They are all from our growing Re-ligious Education program and all of them will be helped by your prayers. Each of us helps all of us when we encounter Jesus in Holy Communion and in prayer. For each of us, as well, it can be planned and scheduled as any other important thing would be. I am glad many of you have been able to return to Holy Communion. I am also confi-dent that Jesus is taking care of everyone who can’t come for Communion in these days. As we strive to enhance our encounters with Jesus I invite you to renew this week your devotion to Our Lady. After Masses on Thurs-day, July 16, we will offer enrollment in the Brown Scapular of Our Lady of Mount Car-mel. You may participate as a way renewing your previous enrollment too. Act of Spiritual Communion

During these days when Holy Communion isn't possible please adopt the traditional and fruitful practice of praying a Spiritual Communion Prayer. Here is a suggested one, but feel free to pray one from your heart: An ideal practice is to make this prayer when you are meditat-ing on the readings from the Mass of the Day or watching it on TV or online. Mass readings can be found at www.usccb.org.

The Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel is celebrated on July 16. The Brown Scapular is adapted from the scapular of the Carmelite Order, and represents a special Consecration to Our Lady under the title of: Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Once enrolled, the person has a special entrustment of themselves to Mary for their salvation. Our Lady has promised to those who faithfully wear the scapular: “Those who die wearing this scapular shall not suffer eternal fire.” This must not be understood superstitiously or magically; but in light of Catholic teaching that perseverance in faith, hope, and love are required for salvation. The scapular is a powerful reminder of this Christian obligation and of Mary’s promise to help those consecrat-ed to her, obtain the grace of final perseverance.

El escapulario marrón está adaptado del escapulario de la Orden Carmelita, y representa una Consagración especial a Nuestra Señora bajo el Título de: Nuestra Señora del Monte Carmelo. Al portar el esca-pulario, la persona tiene que procurar tener siempre presente a la San-tísima Virgen María para su salvación. Nuestra Señora ha prometido lo siguiente a quienes lo llevan fielmente: "Los que mueran usando este escapulario no sufrirán fuego eterno". Esto no debe entenderse de manera supersticiosa o mágica; pero a la luz de la enseñanza Cató-lica de que la perseverancia en la fe, la esperanza y el amor es reque-rida para la salvación. due to the pandemic.

Practice will be held at 9:00 am (same day) in the cafeteria for students and sponsors. If families of the Confirmandees

So, we have created virtual tours on our web-site that give families a peek inside of our school, as well as giving them a chance to see and hear our teachers talk about the cur-riculum and a typical day for their grade-level students. Young Adults

All young adults in their 20s and 30s are invited to join the St. Anthony Young Adults group. Regular virtual commu-nity meetings are held via Zoom on the 1st & 3rd Thursdays. The alternating weeks (2nd & 4th Mondays) our Young Adults will participate in the Diocesan Young Adult Theology on Tap series. Youth Ministry

WorkCamp 2020 Re-Boot Like many planned events for this summer, the diocesan WorkCamp was revamped into WorkCamp “Re-boot”, a local version of the famous Diocesan WorkCamp. It was a great week of seeing our young teens work here at the parish and school, accomplish-ing some much needed clean-up on the grounds. The Glen Carlyn side of the school looks great, as does our Peace Garden and picnic area on the side by the parish. Even though WorkCamp ended on Thursday, students returned on Friday to attend the first Mass with Fr. James at noon. What a great way to welcome him to our parish! Thank you to James Armstrong, our volunteers, and youth ministry students who helped to make our parish grounds look so great. The week also included joining with hundreds of young people across the Diocese in the online music, preaching, and testimonies planned and presented by our Diocesan Youth Office.

St. Anthony Virtual 5K Would you like a fun and healthy way to support our Youth Ministry? Why not register for our Virtual 5K. Everyone in the St. Anthony of Padua community is invited to participate in this Socially Distant, Spiritually Close event that will be held from August 6-15. Anyone participating can run or walk 5K (3.1 miles) during this time. You can invite your friends and neighbors to join you! All participants must be registered by August 6. Participants can opt to choose a t-shirt and or a medal. The cost with a t-shirt is $35 per runner. Once registered, each person will re-ceive a link with Virtual 5K Spotify playlist and a downloadable race bib. By next weekend, we will have online registration for the 5K on our parish website, www.stanthonyparish.org.
