Dear Brethren,The Scottish Rite in the Orient of Ken-tucky is off to a good start and all Con-sistories are busy planning meetings and Reunions. Greetings My Brothers All,

How great and joyful it is for brothers to fellowship together.

On Saturday, June 19th Madisonville Consistory conferred the 4th degree through the 32nd degree upon 6 candidates. It was great to see everyone come together and work together. We were fortunate to have Brother Terry L. Bowman, PGM, 33° Deputy of the Supreme Council, Orient of Kentucky and Brother Geary F. Laird, PGM, 32° KCCH Personal Representative Valley of Louisville present at our reunion.

On Tuesday, June 22nd at Halfway Lodge No. 852, MWGM Ernest Jackson presented Brother James V. (Jimmy) Jones his 75-year service pin. Also present were PGM Terry Bowman, 33° Deputy of the Supreme Council, Orient of Kentucky to present Brother James with his 32° KCCH Patent and Red Cap. Several brothers were present to honor Brother James.

At the stated meeting, June 17th we finished an educational se-ries about recent archeological discoveries revealing new infor-mation about the location where the Israelites crossed the Red Sea and evidence of the Egyptian military having been devas-tated as recorded in the book of Exodus.

Hopefully we will soon begin a study about King Solomon’s Temple and how the columns of Jachin and Boaz were used to hide the Ark of the Covenant from King Nebuchadnezzar.

Tuesday, July 6th at Livermore Lodge No. 186 there will be a Scottish Rite presentation.

Thursday, July 8th at Folsomdale Lodge No. 283 Brother Gene Thompson will receive his 32° KCCH Patent and his Red Cap.

I am grateful to report things are happening in Western Ken-tucky.

Fraternally, Douglas W. Bunch, 32° KCCH Personal Representative Valley of Madisonville

Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite - Orient of KentuckyMasonic Library and Museum Association

Covington Scottish Rite “I Didn’t Know That……”

The Southern California Research Lodge recently released its “Top 25 Masonic Books of the New Millennium (So Far)”. Several Kentucky Masons participated in the selection of the top 25 (Masonic Home Journal, March-2021). W. B. John W. Bizzack’s book Island Masonry-The Final Bastion of the Observant Lodge was among those selected in the SCRL’s top 25. Congratulations John!! It is always nice when a Kentucky Mason is recognized by his peers across the United States. John has authored numerous books and Masonic papers, and is highly regarded nationally as an author and lecturer, as this ranking by top scholars suggests. The “Top 10” will be officially revealed on a 1 to 10 basis in the September issue of the SCRL Fraternal Review.

The SCRL’s 25 books, unranked, are listed by date below. Those marked YES, are currently available at the Covington Scottish Rite MLMA Library. The listing is according to date published.

As you can see, your Library has over half of the top 25 Masonic books since the year 2000, certainly a great accomplishment. Natu-rally we would like to have the complete list. For $50.00 you can be a “Friend of the Library” and we will purchase one of the above missing books, and place a label bearing your name on the title page, for every reader to see. You will be preserving Masonic education for future generations. Also, we would like to rate your favorite book or books from the above list. Drop us a line and we will compare how the read-ing material of Kentucky Masons matches up to rest of the nation. ……………..What do you think?

The Masonic Library has over 3,000 Masonic books and magazines on any and all topics, including John Bizzack’s latest book, co-authored with Brother Dan Kemble; 21st Century Conversations about Freema-sonry – A Candle in the Dark. You can visit your MLMA – Covington and receive a free library card, any Wednesday, 6:00 to 8:00 pm or for an appointment, just email Bill Lorenz, Librarian: [email protected]
