Learning EnvironmentAll study programs are conceptualized as extra-occu-pational programs that can be reconciled with professional work. The program is taught in a blended learning environment and utilises e-learning, peer learning and interactive discussions with experts, guest lecturers, workshops and case studies.
Through a custome-designed approach and individua-lized support, you can expect large flexibility naviga-ting your studies with your professional and private life.
Small class sizes allow for large flexibility while at the same time permitting participants to closely profit from the teachers and supervisors expertise.
Public SymposiumEach year, the study program starts with a public symposium in September, where experts are invited world-wide to provide an overview of the current trends and share their insight on specific topics in individual presentations and a roundtable discussion.
University of BernLocated in Switzerland's capital and part of the UNESCO world heritage, the University of Bern is inter-nationally recognised and can trace its roots back to 1528. The University of Bern provides a high quality infrastructure, while sitem-insel AG is located close to the Inselspital - the university hospital.
Switzerland is one of the most important research nations in the world. Become part of the medical future.

The study program
The main objectives of the Artificial Intelligence in Diagnostic Medical Systems study programs are to equip medical doctors with the necessary skills to take a leading role in the AI driven transformation of medicine. The content and layout of the programs were developed for medical professionals and provides them with the necessary knowledge and skills to translate medical problems to data science problems and become familiar with the current concepts and applications for diagnostic technologies.
On a higher level, the participants will be taught about the translational process of a concept for an artificial intelligence technology and its introduction into the clinical workflow.
Master, Diploma and Certificate of Advanced StudiesThe study program is divided into eight different courses, therefore allowing to specialise according to your own professional background and desired career path.
Due to its modular-designed structure, you are further able to change inbetween courses and persue a higher degree.
Upon successful completion, you will gain a MAS, DAS or CAS of the University of Bern, an international accredited degree.

Diplomaof Advanced StudiesAll three Diploma of Advanced Studies DAS degrees are build upon the two CAS and differentiate in your chosen focus. They not only provide the necessary knowledge to application of artificial intelligence to a specific problem or into the clinical workflow, but teach how to translate it into practice.
DAS Artificial Intelligence in in Diagnostic Medical SystemsThis degree is build on the two CAS Artificial Intelligence study programmes and connects the content from both ends together, essentially building the bridge between development and integration.
DAS Artificial Intelligence Techniques for Dia-gnostic Medical SystemsWith focus on techniques, the DAS AI Techniques DMS covers the necessary skills of analysing a problem and develop a solution with artificial intelligence within the enviornment of diagnosis.
DAS Artificial Intelligence Translational Diagno-stic Medical SystemsHere, the degree contains the fundamentals of arti-ficial intelligence and basic programming know-ledge, with a strong emphasis on the integration and deployment into a clinical workflow and thus translating development into patient care.

10 MAS/DAS/CAS Artificial Intelligence in Diagnostic Medical Systems 2021/2022
Masterof Advanced StudiesThe Master of Advanced Studies MAS builds the bridge from the early stages of recognising and defining an artificial intelligence problem, to the assessment of how artificial intelligence is suitable to provide a solution, application of methods and proposal of strategies on how to integrate artificial intelligence into the clinical workflow. These degrees will give you the knowledge, skills and confidence to actively take on a role on implementing artificial intelligence in medical imaging and diagnostic medical systems within your environment.
Further covered are ethical, legal and IP related considerations within the strategy, and data protection.
We offer three degrees on the level of Master of Advan-ced Studies. They core modules are the same as the corresponding Diploma of Advanced Studies, however you will gain more expertise from additional electives. Based on your chosen electives and the topic of your Master thesis, the MAS allows you to fine tune your studies to your professional work environment and desired career path.

As a neuroradiologist and researcher, I consider Deep Learning an essential future technology. The CAS program focuses on both the basics of AI as well as several hands-on exercises, including an individual thesis project, under the guidance of renowned researchers in the field. It was therefore very appea-ling to me. The introduction to fast AI and different application examples was something I enjoyed in particular. I can wholeheartedly recommend this course to anybody interested in AI.
