Three Types of Success

Level 1: Removal of a waterbody from the 303(d) list for an impairing substance or stressor,

Level 2: Incremental improvement in water qualityReduction in a pollutant or Improvement in aquatic life

Level 3: Improvements in pollution or ecological restoration, e.g., removal of fish blockages or physical habitat improvements.

Level 1 Options

• Water Quality Analyses

• pH Restoration

• Biological Restoration Greater:– MD lists at watershed scale– Some watersheds are barely impaired

• Bacteria Reductions

• SAV increases (Sediment in Tidal Waters)
