We meet in the strong name of our God.

Jesus, we enter your Presence with thanksgiving and praise, You have called us to follow you as Disciples of Christ.
We easily are distracted from our most important relationship-- Walking by faith each day with you, to learn and love, serve and grow.
Forgive us for our sins, Cleanse our hearts; Purify our minds,
Inhabit our dreams; Fill us with hope. Renew in us the joy of our salvation.
Lord, you have called us to ‘go make disciples.’ By your Holy Spirit, help us carry out the Great Commission. Amen.
*Prayer of the Day:
Lord Jesus, we gladly hear your voice and follow you in obedience. Each
disciple is as unique as snowflakes and fingerprints. Yet, we share the desire to
trust you and serve you each day. Use us for your glory, O God. Give us an
appetite to learn from you. Harness us for your purposes. Make us sensitive to
your Spirit and show us your will each day. Empower us to love people as you
love them. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

First Lesson - Isaiah 61:1-11
1 The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to
proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to
proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, 2 to
proclaim the year of the LORD’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to
comfort all who mourn, 3and provide for those who grieve in Zion—to bestow on them
a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment
of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a
planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor. 4 They will rebuild the ancient ruins
and restore the places long devastated; they will renew the ruined cities that have
been devastated for generations. 5 Strangers will shepherd your flocks; foreigners will
work your fields and vineyards. 6 And you will be called priests of the LORD, you will be
named ministers of our God. You will feed on the wealth of nations, and in their riches
you will boast. 7 Instead of your shame you will receive a double portion, and instead
of disgrace you will rejoice in your inheritance. And so you will inherit a double portion
in your land, and everlasting joy will be yours. 8 “For I, the LORD, love justice; I hate
robbery and wrongdoing. In my faithfulness I will reward my people and make an
everlasting covenant with them. 9 Their descendants will be known among the nations
and their offspring among the peoples. All who see them will acknowledge that they
are a people the LORD has blessed.” 10 I delight greatly in the LORD; my soul rejoices in
my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe
of his righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest, and as a bride
adorns herself with her jewels. 11 For as the soil makes the sprout come up and a
garden causes seeds to grow, so the Sovereign LORD will make righteousness and
praise spring up before all nations.
Second Lesson - Luke 8:1-3
1 After this, Jesus traveled about from one town and village to another, proclaiming
the good news of the kingdom of God. The Twelve were with him, 2 and also some
women who had been cured of evil spirits and diseases: Mary (called Magdalene)
from whom seven demons had come out; 3 Joanna the wife of Chuza, the manager
of Herod’s household; Susanna; and many others. These women were helping to
support them out of their own means.
Gospel - Matthew 28:1-10
1 After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the
other Mary went to look at the tomb. 2 There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of
the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and
sat on it. 3 His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. 4 The
guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men. 5 The angel

2. What activities or family traditions do you have every Fall year? Pumpkin carving,
football games, hayrides, and/or trick-or-treating?
3. We all have struggles in life. How does Jesus help us in our struggles? How does
Jesus free us? Does He ever allow some to continue?
4. What troubles your heart or mind? Finances, friends, foes, children, house
problems, work issues, stress, fatigue, boredom? What troubles you?
5. Have you ever had weird experiences in life that did not seem normal?
Experiences that seemed supernatural? Have you ever known someone who
experienced something supernatural?
6. How can we go to Jesus for healing of our hearts? How can we stay strong in our
faith in Christ, no matter what the obstacle?

said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who
was crucified. 6 He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place
where he lay. 7 Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead
and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told
you.” 8 So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran
to tell his disciples. 9 Suddenly Jesus met them. “Greetings,” he said. They came to
him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. 10 Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be
afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me.”
