I hope you all had an enjoyable holiday. Term 3 is usually the quieter of the terms. The calendar is already looking busy with Sporting Schools, Book Week/ Education week combined and a Police talk just naming a few of the events planned. I am sure that more will pop up. Last week the first of this terms sporting schools program started. We are participating in hockey activities for the first 4 weeks followed by a tennis program in the second half of the term. The children really enjoyed the activities last Friday. Next Friday the entire school will be travelling to Coolamon Central School for a Careers Day. Marrar will combine with other local schools and participate in activities. More information will be provided early next week on the permission note. Sporting schools will be on Thursday instead of Friday. On Tuesday I had the pleasure in accompanying our School Captains, Gabby and Alex, when we had morning tea with the Mayor. They looked very smart in the uniform and it gave the children the opportunity to mix with the students from the other local schools and to listen to the functions of the council. I must also mention that they enjoyed the morning tea! Planning is well underway for the whole school excursion to Canberra. It will be in week 3 of term 4. We are anticipating being able to send a note home next week with the cost and itinerary. We expect costing to be approximately $200 for the 3 days which includes everything. Just a reminder that if your child is away it would be appreciated if a note could be sent with your child when they return. You are also able to ring or send an email. If your child is late arrival to school or leaving early this needs to be recorded via the office. Term 3 Week 2 Thursday 2nd August 2018 1

Welcome back to the start of term 3. I hope you all had an enjoyable holiday. Term 3 is usually the quieter of the terms. The calendar is already looking busy with Sporting Schools, Book Week/Education week combined and a Police talk just naming a few of the events planned. I am sure that more will pop up.

What’s Happening in K-2 Welcome back everyone. I hope you all had a nice and relaxing holidays and are ready for a busy term 3. The dates are filling up fast with many extra curricular activities being offered to both our staff and students. With this mind, students have been working very hard in the classrooms to account for days out of the classroom participating in these activities. With Mrs. O’Neill handing over the reigns and settling herself into retirement , I have surely noticed the amount of work that she did for our school and students. I would just like to thank Mrs. O’Neill for all she has done for MPS and I wish her all the best for the future. You have made my first few years of teaching a pleasure!
With all that said and done, K-2 are working like little champions in the classroom. We have been following along with our units, finishing them off from last term and starting new ones. This term in Science we are working on a unit called “mixing it up” which is very fun and hands on. Students are given the opportunity to predict, mix and explain what is happening when specific materials are mixed together and observe the reactions. Last week we started our unit by mixing oil, water and food ye in a specific order together and discussed what happens. Students found out that oil is more dense then water, therefore it does not mix. Students were amazed that we had a reaction that looked like a home made lava lamp and were so amazed at how things moved and separated. I look forward to doing many more fun and exciting experiments over the course of the term.
Keep on working hard K-2. Let’s work hard and play harder!
Miss Salzke.

3-6 Report
Morning Tea with The Mayor.
On the Tuesday 31st July, Gabby, Mr Adamson and I went to the Coolamon Shire Council Chambers to have morn-
ing tea with the Mayor. There were 6 schools, Coolamon, St Brendan’s, St Patrick’s, Matong, Ganmain and us. We
all sat down on the chairs and then Coolamon
finally arrived. The treasurer (2nd in command)
and the Mayor talked to us about their jobs.
Then there were questions and no one asked
anything (I still haven’t thought of anything). We
gorged ourselves on food and about 15-20
minutes later we drove back to school.

be boarding the bus to travel to Coolamon Library, where we will be participating in activities
based around a shortlisted book. Notes will go out closer to the date.
Library this term will remain on a Monday after lunch. A reminder to the students to bring
their library books back so they can borrow again. Kindergarten (1 book), year 1-5 ( 2 books)
and year 6 (3 books).
Keep on reading!
Miss Salzke.
Journalists’ Corner
Because of the support we received from our school families
and community members, we had a massive total of just over
13,000 vouchers to spend through the Coles sports for school
program. With the vouchers we have been able to purchase
much needed sporting equipment for the students, so
thank you!!
P&C Notes
Firstly, Mrs O’Neill has been a supportive, nurturing
and amazing teacher at our school for over 30 years.
Every time you meet a former Marrar Public School
student of Mrs. O’Neill’s they always have fond memo-
ries and a funny story to tell about her. She has been
an integral part of our school family for many years and
we will miss her immensely and we thank her for all the
patience and guidance that she has shown our school
and our children over those years.
A reminder that uniforms are available through the Hunters website. Please allow 2 weeks for delivery on most
