FISH BITES Miami, looking for its fifth straight win, wraps up its home slate of the 2015 season today, taking on the Braves in the series finale today (1:10 p.m.). The Marlins will hand the ball to RHP Tom Koehler; he is 1-4 with a 3.13 ERA in 13 games (nine starts) against the Braves. Atlanta will counter with RHP Shelby Miller, who is 2-3 with a 2.61 ERA in seven career starts against the Marlins. Miami, which opened the homestand against Philadelphia (2-1), returned home following a seven-game road trip that took the Club to the Mets (2-1) and Nationals (1-3). The Marlins are off on Monday and then wrap up their season with a six-game road trip to Tampa Bay (September 29- October 1) and Philadelphia (Oct. 2-4). Today’s National Anthem will be performed by the Miami Coral Park Senior High School Band, and the ceremonial first pitch will be thrown out by Dennis Martinez and Alex Iles. VS. THE BRAVES Miami has gone just 8-10 against Atlanta this year, but is currently enjoying a Franchise best six-game winning streak over the Braves. The Fish are 2-6 against the Braves at home this season and 86-100 all-time (11-25 at Marlins Park). Atlanta leads the overall series, 218-158. SWEEP INFO Miami, which recorded a three-game sweep of Atlanta earlier this season from August 31-September 2, is looking to secure its fifth three-game sweep of the Braves at home all-time. The last Marlins’ sweep here in a three-game set came from April 29-May 1, 2014. LAST NIGHT The Marlins staked an early 2-0 lead in the first inning and added four insurance runs in the eighth to defeat the Braves, 6-2. Justin Bour got Miami on the board in the first with his 21 st home run of the season, a two-run shot to right field. At- lanta cut the lead in half in the third and then the Fish put the game out of reach in the eighth. A bases-loaded walk to Miguel Rojas scored the first run in the inning, Casey McGehee followed with a pinch-hit two-run single and Dee Gordon drove in the final run with a sacrifice fly. Justin Nicolino (4-4) held the Braves to one run in 7.0 innings to pick up the win. UP NEXT Following an off-day on Monday, the Marlins will begin a three-game set against the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field. Miami trails the season series, having dropped two of three at Marlins Park from April 10-12. The Fish are 20-25 against the Rays at the Trop all-time, but are just 3-7 in their last 10 games. The overall series between the two clubs is tied, 48-48. ELIAS SAYS... Justin Nicolino allowed one run without striking out a batter in 7.0 innings in last night’s 6-2 win over the Braves. Nicolino is the fourth pitcher this season to toss at least 7.0 innings without fanning a batter, joining R.A. Dickey (May 4), Mike Pelfrey (May 8), and Anthony DeSclafani (June 4). The last Marlins’ pitcher with an outing like this was Chris Volstad (7.0 IP, 0 K) at Oakland on June 30, 2011. BEST IN BASEBALL The Marlins own a 16-8 (.667) record since August 31, which is tops in MLB. MIGGY GETTING JIGGY Since stepping in for Adeiny Hechavarria on September 2, Miguel Rojas has supplied quality defense (1.000 field- ing percentage) to go along with a .318 (17x58) batting average. His average over that span ranks second among National League shortstops, fourth in MLB. He trails Francisco Lindor (.357), Xander Bogaerts (.356) and Corey Seager (.347).
