Project Highlights Location: Miami, FL. Owner: Dade County, FL. Operator: Miami Marlins. Cost: $550 million. Capacity: 3,700 Seats. Start of construction: July 1st,2009. End of construction: March 5th,2012. First official game: April 4th,2012. Architect: Populous architects (Kansas city). GC: Hunt and Moss construction.

Marlins Retractable Roof Marlins is the nation’s first retractable roof

baseball park engineered to withstand 146 mph winds. (structural design by Walter P Moore)

Retractable roof features:Consists of three moving panels skirted by 2 fixed panels that achieve the spaceship-like shape, of total weight 7,800 tons of steelUpper panel: 578 ft x 260 ft and 2 lower panels: 548 ft x 145 ftMoved by traction system powered by ten 76-hp electric drive motors
