liability on society instead of being responsible citizens.

help them through education and awareness.

Dear Sir Subject : Cleanliness initiative on Gandhi Jayanti
Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I, as a
concerned citizen of the

Prime Minister of India whereby Gandhi Jayanti was celebrated as a

It was the first time after independence that Gandhi Jaynti was
not a gazette off
day. It was heartening to see even celebrities join in the drive
and take to streets in
order to clean their cities When one visits a country other than
India, the first thing that one notices is the amount of
cleanliness that is there on the roads. Here in
India, we dont think twice before littering our streets,
schools, offices and even
homes. It was therefore very refreshing to see all people
engaged in the task of cleaning their surroundings, especially on
the birth anniversary of the father of the
Nation.
I would like to commend the efforts of the Prime Minister and
other people who made this initiative a success. It is my humble
request to all fellow Indians that
each day we should put efforts into maintaining clean
surroundings. We must
continue to strive for a clean and prosperous nation.

6. The Simple Pleasures of Life F 1+ C 4 + E 5= 10 By
Riya/Rakhsit
Life has become all about meeting deadlines, completing a
project or an assignment
and fulfilling responsibilities. Of course, doing the said
things is important but are
we not distancing ourselves from enjoying life to the fullest?
When was the last time you sat with your family members and watched
a good
movie? In the mad rush of todays fast-paced life, we are
frantically trying to move
towards our goals, without sparing a thought about this
wonderful journey called life. Simple pleasures like reading a good
book, going out for a walk in the nearby
park, a simple conversation with an old friend, etc.are fast
being replaced by text
messages on ones birthday, quick e-mails, mad working hours and
detached personal life,
It is important to find time for out ownseles in our busy
schedules. And theres no
better way than to go back to the simple ways of yore to make
yourself and others around you happy.

Junk the Junk Food
By Shreya Today, junk food is like a fashion, people are getting
addicted to it It is cheap and
available at every nook and corner of the city. Its easy
availability is one of the
reasons of its increasing popularity.
-
Once in a while it is in line to go for such food but if we take
such food daily, it will
lead to many health problems. In India every third man is
suffering from obesity
which results in high blood pressure heart problems, diabetes,
etc. Junk food generally contains transfats which make one obese,
lousy and dull. The
unhygienic places where these products are made make it more
unhealthy. This
food at times causes acidity and sleeplessness which bring
energy levels down and the person feels lethargic.
Children should avoid junk food or try to rerduce its intake and
instead eat healthy
food for proper growth. Schools can slso help develop healthy
eating habits by banning junk food in their canteens and by setting
marks for tiffins. Only healthy
young people can take a nation forward. So rat healthy and
remain healthy.

Good morning to the respected jury members, my dear opponents
and all others present here Today, I stand before all of you to
speak for the motion-Technology
Can Never Replace Teachers.
Teachers, unlike technology, do not leave us with just facts
they establish a connection between the facts that we learn and our
everyday lives, so that we can
apply the same to our daily dealings with people and
surroundings. Further, a
computer or a smart phone con never give you the personal and
human attention that teachers always do. That word of
encouragement, that gesture of appreciation
better individuals.
Technology does help us in gaining knowledge but it is our
teachers who help us assimilate and use that knowledge to our
advantage. With this, I would rest my
case.
Thank you
Or Growing Violence among Children
By Rakhee
Across the various sections of society, adolescents are getting
more and more violent. They are becoming impatient and as a result
more violent in their approach.
They cannot tolerate a no for an answer and display their
despondency by being
aggressive and turn violent at the slightest provocation. Who do
we blame? Parents, school, society or the adolescents themselves.
Parents
are too busy earning a living and believe that money can
compensate for the
parental love and nurturing that their children are missing out
on. Schools are buckling under the pressure of the new found
psychological studies and
hence tend to overlook many of the apparently minor offences,
which turn out to be
major stumbling blocks.
When things dont work their way, our young friends turn violent.
This could be verbal or physical. It could be directed at the
parents, a young sibling, authorities,
or public property. At times due to this aggressive attitude the
child harms his
ownself. It is indeed a sad state of affairs that in the land of
Gandhi, the rule of the day is
violence. It is time to do a reality check on the value system
in our society. Parents
and schools should join hands and do everything possible o stop
out adolescents from turning into a pack of brats. Only then can
our nation progress and the future
can be a bright one envisioned by the youth of our country.
8. 1*4= 4 (i) The poet does not want us to speak in any language
because he wants total
silence.
(ii) By not move our arms so much; the poet wants us to cease
all physical
activity. (iii) The poet wants us to achieve a higher level
mental activity by way of ceasing
all physical activity and quit introspection.
-
(iv) The word language signifies various religion and the
different languages
spoken.
OR (i) The walls suggest the poor and ill-equipped environment
of the slum school.
The sour cream walls of the school, which were probably painted
with the help of
donations, further add to the pale and sad ambience of the poem.
(ii) The walls of the classroom have a portrait of Shakespeare,
open-handed
maps showing beautiful valleys, buildings and domes.
(iii) The poet thinks that the adornments on the walls of the
classroom are in sharp contrast to the dull dreary atmosphere of
the slum school. Shakespeare
stands for the study of classical literature, the word map
represents the world
outside the classroom. The world of these children is full of
monotony, dullness and
hopelessness which prevent them from experiencing any of these
in reality. (iv) The lead sky refers to the dull and colourless
world of the slum children.
9. 4*3= 12 (2 C + 2 E) each (a) Shakespeare becomes wicked and
the map a bad example for the slum
children because both these things tempt them to steal by
showing them a world
which they do not have access to and cannot be part of. (b)
Douglas plans on going down till the bottom of the tiled pool, use
all his
strength to hit the bottom of the pool as hard as he can and
then come to the
surface of the water like a cork and paddli to the edge of the
pool. He doesnt succeed as his legs become tense, his lungs are
ready to burst and he comes up
slowly instead of like a cork
(c) The meaning of Saheb-e-Alams name is Lord of the universe
Anees Jung
says if Saheb knew the meaning of his name, he would have a hard
time believing it because in reality he is only a poor
ragpicker.
(d) Jo was surprised to hear that roger Skunks mother hit the
wizard and got
Roger to smell like his old self again. She wanted the wizard to
hit the mother and let Roger Skunk retain the smell of roses so
that he could play with his friends.
(e) The title The Rattrap is just and apt. It has been used
metaphorically for
the world that we line in. All the riches and comforts of the
world are like bait for us. As soon as we enter the trap to catch
the bait, we got caught into it. The
peddler, after stealing the money felt himself trapped.
(f) Aunt Jennifer is embroidering tigers. The tigers signify the
silent revolt against male-dominated society. Aunt Jennifer was
suffering a lot due to the
pressure of married life while the tigers are proud and
courageous.
10. C 3 + E 3 = 6 Indeed, the Champaran episode was not only a
turning point in Gandhijis life, it
was also very curial to the slow and steady success of the
Indian National Struggle.
It was after the Champaran episode that Gandhje decided to
involve himself
completely with the Indian national struggle and remove the fear
of the British from the minds and hearts of the deprived, poor
Indians.
He began work at the ground level by improving health and
sanitation, setting up a
primary school and making the exploited lot realize the values
of self-reliance. Further, with the dissolution of the
indigo-sharecropping arrangement, he made the
peasants realize that with truth, persistence and non-violence,
they could achieve
anything. OR
Gandhis procedure to handle popular grievances finds limelight
in the lesson in
question here. He follows the most scientific. Proves to redress
popular grievances in Champaran. Like a good scientist, he first
collects information, observes gravity of
the grievance through dedication of people to the cause,
consults all concerned and
then experiments with popular mobilization. Finally, he meets
the authority at the
helm and, thus, the grievance is gone for ever, Hand all
politicians adopted this
-
procedure, people in India would have overcome almost all
problems including
poverty, class and caste conflicts, etc.

Dr. Sadao is faced with a moral and professional dilemma when
the American
prisoner of war is washed ashore right outside his house. If he
harbours him he might be arrested as a traitor but if he hands him
over, his duty as a doctor, who
saves all life, would be compromised
He thus operates upon him and decides to hand him over once he
recovers. He does inform the General about the soldier and since
the General needs Dr. Sadaos skills
as a doctor to save his own life, he agrees to send assassins to
take care of the
prisoner, while Dr. Sadao would be rendered safe and his
reputation untarnished.
However, the General because of being self-absorbed, forgets to
send assassins and that is when Dr. Sadao lets the prisoner flee to
safety, In this way, he protects the
honour of his profession as well as his country.
OR The message given in the lesson is that nature laws are above
all and saving the
life of a dying person is always much above the demarcated
boundaries of countries
and nations. Here a doctor couple saves the life of an American
war convict. Both of them endure gross criticism from their
servants and they have to give a false report
to the officers in Japanese military. They are doctors and,
therefore, complicance
with the professional code of conduct as per the Hipocrtic oathe
is of paramount importance for them.

Dr. kemp is a former associate of Griffin in his college days.
Griffin had been a
student and knew kemp to be interested in aspects of science. It
is to kemps house that Griffin goes, in his final attempt to find
an accomplice and live a more normal
life.
A detached person from the very start, kemp usually keeps to
himself, busy continuing with his own study in the hope of being
admitted to the Royal Fellows
His own experiments and fascination with science enable him to
listen sensibly to
griffin, but in spite of being rather contemptuous of his fellow
citizens, his common sense and decency prevent him from being a
part of Griffins schemes.
Kemp is also the only cool headed person in the town one the
final attack begins.
He runs to escape Griffin, but as soon as Griffin catches him he
has the presence of mind to turn the capture around. He is also the
first to realize that Griffin is
invisible and injured; It is because of his report to the
authorities that Griffin finally
meets his end.
13. C 3 + E 3 = 6 Mr. Marvel first realizes that hes being used
for evil purposes by Griffin after the
incident at Iping he immediately decided on resigning, calling
himself a miserable
and weak tool. However, for Griffin, even though hes a poor
tool, hes the only tool in hand and he refuses to let go of
him.
Marvel again tries to save himself at Port Stove by trying to
get the mariner
understand his plight but even then Griffin handles him harshly
and forces him to change his stance.
Finally, he gives Griffin a slip by running into the Jolly
Cricketers Bar and this time,
after initial blows and hits, he finally manages to free himself
of the influence of the invisible man.

(a) DeMorgtans Theorem states that
(i). X + Y = X . Y (ii). X . Y = X + Y
Proof: Assuming that DeMorgons laws are true. That means, all
Boolean
laws should hold on it.
Let X + Y = P ---------------- (i)
Therefore given theorem (i) we get P = X . Y ----------------
(ii)
Since Boolean laws hold on it, Complementarity law should also
hold on it.
P + P = 1 and P . P = 0
P + P = 1
Replacing values of P, we get
P + X . Y = 1
L.H.S. = (P + X) (P + Y) from (ii)
Replacing values of P, we get
(X + Y + X) (X + Y + Y) = (X + X + Y) (X + 1)
= (1 + Y) ( X + 1) (since X + X= Y + Y =1)
1 .1 = 1 = R. H. S. (since 1 + Y = 1 + X =1)
Similarly, replacing P and P in P . P = 0, we get
(X + Y) X . Y = 0
L.H S. = X X Y + Y X Y
0 + 0 = 0 = R.H.S. (since XX = 0 , YY =0)
Thus complementarity law fully hold on it
