Newtownabbey Borough Council - Sports Club of the Year
Templepatrick CC have twelve qualified cricket coaches including one of only three Level 3 coaches active in Northern Ireland. TCC run both summer and winter coaching academies and offer practice and coaching sessions every week day evening during the season.
Our coaches have been visiting 14 local primary schools for the last 15 years to promote cricket in general and attract children to our youth programmes. This means we are providing regular coaching to an extra 500 primary school children per year. Our coaches are also active in Ballyclare High and Secondary Schools reaching an additional 350 juniors.
TCC has recently become only the third cricket club in Northern Ireland to receive accreditation on the Cricket Ireland / Sport NI Clubmark Accreditation Scheme. The scheme’s aim is to deliver a quality kite mark for clubs to aspire to as they aim to develop and achieve effective management, quality coaching and competition and safety in sport.
In 2011 and 2012 the accolades for Templepatrick Cricket Club kept on coming with :-
1. Andy McCrea winning the UK & European ECB Cricket Coach of the Year Award 2. Arthur Bowron winning the NCU Award for Outstanding Voluntary Service to Cricket 3. Templepatrick Cricket Club winning the Newtownabbey Borough Council - Club of the Year Award 4. Andy McCrea winning the Newtownabbey Borough Council - Coach of the Year Award
Thanks to successful grant applications to a variety of sports bodies, TCC has undergone substantial ground improvement over the last 24 months to ensure that our facilities fall in line with our club’s playing ambitions.
We now have one of, if not the best practice facilities available in Ireland with 4 brand new artificial practice bays and two bowling machines.
We have re-laid our entire square under the guidance and expertise of the ECB’s pitch specialists and installed a new drainage system. The club continues to grow and be progressive with the following development plans already in place.
1. 1st XI to compete in the NCU Premier League. 2. Continue the outstanding, thriving success of all our Junior Cricket. 3. Continue to provide coaching excellence at all levels by highly motivated and qualified coaches. 4. Continue to provide the highest standard of playing and practice facilities. 5. Continue to promote the club, its facilities and cricket in general to the local community in order to become one of the most successful and highly regarded clubs in Northern Ireland.
