TWO CONNECTED HOUSES

The windows of this house, and all of the windows of the house on 89th Street, are covered with fake newspapers. For the papers, all existing English words are used and every word is used only once.

We only have to reconstruct ROOM WITH FIVES (1993-2001) and the kitchen in the Guggenheim.

Between the five-room and the kitchen there will be a huge vitrine with a nocturnal garden scene. The vitrine is 200 × 202 × 470 cm and fits exactly in the room.

It will take four days to construct the tunnel between the Guggemheim’s kitchen and the kitchen on 8E-89th Street.

We can install all the works in the second house beforehand...

In the hallway, between the kitchen and this room, I want to show an older work from ’92.

These works will not be in the show but I will try to finish my original plan that I had when I made them in 1992. It will be a fragment from the food chain, all animals laying on top, or next to each other, in the order that the animals would eat each other. The new work will also be painted bronze. It will look like wet clay.

If the public exits my show on 89th Street, they should receive a new free ticket from a doorman so they can re-enter the Guggenheim and see the rest of the exhibition. I understand we have to consider insurance issues for the visitors since they will leave the museum during my show.

It might be a nice gesture to give them umbrellas on rainy days (it’s a 5 minutes walk back to the museum). I would like to use simple, normal umbrellas. If we cannot find them I can design them myself and get them produced, no problem.
