The new electronic roll out of school reports, school fee accounts and the deployment of the School App have all been a result of this bold step forward. The launch of the “Parent Portal” in the High School also opens a new window to our school! The Media Centre has too, undergone this transformation by taking on the EdAdmin package in the management of their reading material. A Message from the Principal of Operations, Mr Burton Saunders
EdAdmin and the exciting way going forward
Dear Parents
Most of you have now realised that there have been some significant
changes in the way Marist Brothers Linmeyer has employed I.T. in the
upgrading of our Communication and Administrative platforms. The new
electronic roll out of school reports, school fee accounts and the deployment of the School App
have all been a result of this bold step forward. The launch of the “Parent Portal” in the High
School also opens a new window to our school!
The Media Centre has too, undergone this transformation by taking on the EdAdmin package in
the management of their reading material. The librarians have thoughtfully prepared the
document below to explain their new processes going forward. Please read and enjoy!

THE MARIAN RESOURCE CENTRE MIGRATES TO THE EDADMIN PACKAGE!
We are excited to announce that the Marian Resource Centre has now migrated to EdAdmin.
We join the rest of the school as we make use of this new and exciting administrative package.
In order for Marist Brothers Linmeyer to fully utilise the services on offer, we have linked our
Resource Centre collection to the database. It is a work in progress and there have been many
new developments and minor glitches along the way. Our first goal was to ensure each student
returned books previously captured on the old system. Going forward all new loans will appear
on EdAdmin. This initial process is slow but is proving to be a fruitful endeavour. Most students,
parents and staff have returned their books on the “old system”, with the exception of a minority
that remain outstanding.
We see this new venture as a collaborative effort between parents and the MRC staff. Naturally
we would like all books to be returned timeously. We are however cognisant of the fact that
there are numerous reasons for a book to be returned “LATE”. As such, we see it as our

hope you will assist us in communicating to
them… shared school property belongs to
the whole Marist Brothers Linmeyer Family.
Every student, parent and staff member
should have a fair opportunity to access the
resources we purchase, on an ongoing
basis. Late books can hinder someone
else’s access and we must ensure that,
where possible, we minimise the negative
effects caused by unnecessary late returns.
The automated “Late Book” email is one way we are keeping track of our stock and ensuring
parents help their children manage their library loans. If you receive an email and your child has
not completed their book, please encourage them to renew it. This email service is a gentle
reminder for parents. It is not meant as a punitive measure. We would also like to remind you
that the Marian Resource Centre does not charge fines for late books.
The benefit of the EdAdmin package is that parents are kept in the loop, so to speak. We hope
that the email service leads to books, often forgotten around the house, being returned, instead
of becoming “lost books” later in the year.
We are pleased as we join with the Academic, Sports and Finance departments to give you a
more holistic view of your child’s experience at Marist Brothers Linmeyer.
Happy Reading!
PRAYER FOR THE WEEK Lord Jesus, faith in your word is the way to wisdom, and to
ponder your divine plan is to grow in truth. Open my eyes to your deeds, and my ears to the sound of your call, that I may
understand your will for my life and live according to it.

STEPPING STONE HOSPICE In June every year, the Primary School donates money for their local Hospice. Each year the
donation total gets bigger and bigger thanks to the kindness and generosity of parents. This year, a fantastic amount of R55 000 was raised and handed over to the CEO of Stepping
Stone Hospice, Tersia Burger. Stepping Stone is hoping to put this money towards opening a
special children’s ward at their Hospice.
