Mamanguá Cottage

Saco do Mamanguá, located in the county of Paraty, in southeastern Rio de Janeiro, is the only tropical fjord in Brazil. It is an 8 km (5-mile) green-colored inlet that leads to the most well-preserved mangrove in the Ilha Grandeno Bay.

This charming cottage blends naturally into

the surroundings of Saco do Mamanguá.

The house is protected by its natural surroundings and has 24-hour service of the same quality as Pousada Literária. The rate includes meals.

Picnic with bird identification

Paraty is the most bird-diverse region of Brazil.

We offer the opportunity to participate in bird identification, with a picnic breakfast in the Atlantic Forest. This activity takes place on one of the mountains of Fazenda Bananal - just 10 minutes by car from the Guesthouse.

After the picnic, the guests take a walk in the woods with the farm ornithologist.

During this hike, guests are guided through the process of identifying each species for the purposes of researching and monitoring the Atlantic Forest wildlife. At the end, the birds are cataloged and returned to their natural habitat.

This world-renowned experience, involving direct contact with nature, is quite unique for both children and adults.
