I remember hearing my father say these very words to my brother and I – especially during those wonderful teenage years. He would go on to explain that if you have a gift or talent such as tennis, singing, writing, piano playing, or even cooking, and you use it faithfully, God increases it so you can do even more. But, if you have a talent and refuse to use it, you lose it. Now that my oldest daughter is about to turn fourteen, I find myself having these same discussions and explaining how critical it is to share your gifts by investing them in others and for the kingdom of God. “For everyone who has will be given more, and he will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him” (Matt. 25:29). Think with me of the most joyous people you know… Quick, what is their secret to joy? The most joyous people I know are the ones who never stop growing. When you give you get more to give. When you have an increase, you have more to increase. In short: Use it faithfully or lose it! -Jim The name March comes from the Roman god of war, Mars. For many years, March, being the start of spring, was also the start of the New Year. Much of Europe used March as the start of the year. Britain used March 25th as the beginning of the New Year until 1752. Birthstone: Aquamarine and Bloodstone Flower: Daffodil Zodiac Signs: Pisces and Aries St. Patrick’s Day was named the “Friendliest Day of the Year” by the Guinness Book of World Records. This month we celebrate Women’s History Month, which grew from rising awareness in the United States of the lack of education on women’s roles in our nation’s history during the 1970s. In 1980, President Carter declared the week of March 8 National Woman’s History Week and by 1987, Congress declared March as National Women’s History Month in perpetuity. Our residents love games! Come on and play with us. Featured is Mick Fair, who won this game on her birthday! Columbia Cottage has partnered with Bayada to bring additional strength and fitness classes twice a week! We have experienced a good turnout and feedback so far, join us Monday or Thursday at 3:30 p.m. for a good workout from the seated position.
