Te “Slam the Dam 2” eventheld on Saturday, March 19, 2016was deemed to be another successstory. Tere were about the samenumber o runners and walkers aslast year—sixty plus.  Tere was very little wind so theregistration and starting setup was atthe west end this year. Te walk/runbegan at light pole 1 and finishedat light pole 88—approximately a4-mile distance. Participants wererom as near as Fort Peck and as araway as Seattle.

Te starting gun went off at10:00 and all were off. Weather wasperect, once the race got started:cool and cloudy, with no wind. All ages were represented—rom a

young baby in a stroller to youngchildren, older children, youngadults, older adults, and yes, evenOLDER adults! Some ran to settheir own personal best times andmany walked just to achieve theaccomplishment o completing theentire distance. Law enorcementrom McCone County and ValleyCounty were present to helpwith traffic control. A wonderuladdition this year was the presenceo the Valley County EM crew whoused the Fort Peck ambulance andollowed the group, just in case oany accidents.

Numerous Fort Peck SeniorCitizens Organization memberswere on hand to register people,

monitor the walkers/runners, handout goodies at the end, and driveparticipants back to their vehiclesupon completion. Participantsreceived a special “Slam the Dam 2”bumper sticker, water and mandarinoranges. Many were already talkingabout next year’s “Slam the Dam”event. “We love Slam the Dam” waswhat one person said.

Te Fort Peck Senior citizenswere pleased that the event went sowell. More than $400 in entry eesand donations was raised towardtheir current Ft. Peck own Signproject to erect one and/or possiblymore signs welcoming people toFort Peck. Tanks, and see ya’ nextyear!!!

Up the hill and around the bend to the nish line, Fruit and refreshments awaited the participants of Slam the Dam 2
