March 2019 Project / Portfolio Books Due: Portfolios were given out at the January meetings and project books will be picked up at your March meeting or you can bring them to our office no later than March 11, 2019. Project / Portfolio Books Due: Portfolios were given out at the January meetings and project books will be picked up at your March meeting or you can bring them to our office no later than March 11, 2019. Congratulations to all the 4-H’ers who participated in the Parish, District, and State Livestock Shows!

Tangipahoa Parish was well represented. The livestock program teaches youth responsibility, showmanship

skills including how to win and lose with dignity, care for their animals, and determination. We had multiple

Grand Champion and Reserve Champion winners at the district and state shows. Exhibitors included: Caden

Dairy Poster Contest: The 4-H members may participate in the Dairy Poster Contest by bringing their posters to 4-H

Fest on March 26, 2019. Rules are: Poster must be made on 22" X 28" white poster board only. Do not attach anything to

the poster that is more than 1/2 inch thick. Do not use the commercial brand names of products on the poster. Do not use

jingles, slogans, signs, or pictures that are trademark or copyright protected on the poster. Be sure to place your name,

address, school, grade and parish on the back of the poster in the upper right corner.

4-H Day at the Capitol: Will take place on Wednesday, May 29, 2019!! Take a tour of our State Capitol and meet our

legislators! Youth will receive a free t-shirt and the event is free to attend, but you must preregister! You must provide yourown transportation. Call the 4-H Office or email [email protected] to reserve your spot by May 1st and be eligible

to receive a free T-shirt! (For youth only)

4-H University: Will be June 18th-21st held on the LSU campus in Baton Rouge. This is for 14 (as of Jan 1st) – 19 year olds ONLY! 4-H members compete in one of 45 educational contests with a wide subject range. 4-H members can participate either in 4-H U or Clover College, which are non-competitive learning tracts. To participate in Clover College or 4-H University Contests a 4-H member must be enrolled in 4-H at least 30 days prior to the event and must have past his/her 13th birthday and must not have passed his/her 20th birthday on January 1st of the current year! There will be a 4-H University sign up & registration meeting, at the Amite 4-H office at the next Jr Leader meeting in April. Please email the office at [email protected] to obtain registration forms if you are interested in attending 4-H U or Clover College (you cannot participate in both). All fees and forms will be due by May 27th.

4-H Louisiana Outdoor Science and Technology (LOST) Camp:
