Hello PHHS Key Clubbers! This past weekend myself and 14 other members went to the Ocean Place Resort and Spa in Long Branch NJ for the 68th annual District Convention. This was my last Key Club Convention and it was extremely bitter sweet. We all went to workshops and learned how to better serve our home, school, and community. I distinctly remember four years ago in Pennsylvania going to my first ever convention and it feels like it was just yesterday. These four years have gone in the blink of an eye and I cant thank all of you guys enough for letting me serve you as your president this year! It could not have been possible without you! Thanks again, this isn't a good-bye, but a see you later!

Hey everyone!I’m so excited to serve as your 2014-2015 co-

bulletin editor! Key Club is truly an extraordinary club, having the ability to impact a school and a community, and my responsibility as an editor is to raise awareness and promote such a process. I plan on making these newsletters both informative and appealing, and because I spend a lot of time on these articles, I hope you guys all have the time to read them. Hey guys,With this being my first year as an editor for any

club, this is all new to me. Fortunately, after some inspiration from district level editors I met at DCON, I definitely am going to have fun with this position. I immediately loved the design aspect of these newsletters and how open these publications are to creativity, and so I am eager to write these newsletters from now through the upcoming year. I hope to spread the news of Key Club effectively throughout Par Hills, while at the same time enjoying the work I do.

2014 New Jersey District Convention

This past weekend, March 28-30, marked a new service year for Key Club. It was a weekend that involved motivational speakers, informative workshops, elections for our new district board, and the announcement for our next year’s state project: The Eliminate Project. Beyond speeches that promotedthe elimination of negativism and lectureson appropriate businesswear and formingsuccessful fundraisers,district convention allowed attendees to see something greater -- how impactul Key Club and its Kiwanis branches can truly be. At Parsippany Hills, while Key Clubbers may have bi-weekly meetings discussing new fundraisers and events, District Convention was a gathering of 600 and more equally passionate Key Clubbers. No longer is Key Club just a program that offers service hours and benefits to the community, it is a program that ultimately, can change the world.

The Path to Becoming a Key Club Governor: Sam Levisay

Why did you plan on running for district Governor?I planned to run for Governor because Key Club inspired me to be a leader outside of my club beginning with Lieutenant Governor. From my experience as LTG, I realized that the state board of NJ Key Club is truly a unique and powerful experience that will influence the rest of my life. Running for Governor was an opportunity for me to share my ideas and passion with the District.

What are some of your goals as Governor?My main goals as Governor are to improve district events, communication, and build clubs.

What has been your best experience as a candidate? The best experience that I had as a candidate was meeting all the other wonderful candidates. Everyone was friendly and helpful and I look forward to seeing them all again.

How do you manage between Key Club and other extra-cirriculars?Balancing time can be one of the hardest things that a high schooler learns. I use calendars and schedules to help plan out time. I also plan to be less involved in my other clubs and solely dedicate my time to Key Club.

InformationT-Shirt Contest

With 40 years behind us and many more ahead, the Parsippany Hills Key Club is celebrating with custom designed T-shirts to be created by the general members themselves. However, this contest is no easy task! The aim of the shirt is to incorporate the message of Key Club- Caring...Our Way Of Life. This is a fantastic opportunity for the whole chapter to purchase these shirts and spread the pride we Key Clubbers have in the service we do. Once we come to a decision about which design is the best fit for our shirts, the winner will receive a Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks gift card and a free shirt. We are all very excited to see which shirt will represent us around the school, so till then, keep calm and serve on!

Senior Citizen DinnerOne of our biggest community events is here and we all cannot wait! The Senior Citizen Dinner is a welcoming evening open to all senior citizens in the local Parsippany area. The event is student run with some help from school cooks to make delicious salad, pasta, and tasty desserts that students donate. Not only do they donate ingredients, students donate their time to setting up, running, and cleaning the entire cafeteria afterwards, all for the enjoyment of our beloved elders. But that’s not all the evening has to offer! After the dinner, they will be treated with a run-through performance of our upcoming musical, Shrek! Everyone has been anticipating the show, which will be performed on April 3rd,4th, and 5th. Overall, everyone should try to come out for these spectacular events; you won’t want to miss either of them!
