Updates: Welcome our new
International Plan Assistant Director: Jennifer Evanuik
IP Newsletter, March 2013http://internationalplan.gatech.edu/students
I grew up in Pittsburgh, PA but have lived in the South since 2007. Ever since taking
French class in 5th grade, I have been fascinated with learning about different cultures. I
received a B.S. in French and International Business from Penn State University. During
that time, I studied abroad in Paris. Upon returning to the US, I became a peer advisor
at Penn States study abroad office. I enjoyed helping my peers navigate the process of
study abroad, which led me to explore working professionally in the field. I attended the
University of Pittsburgh for graduate school, where my Masters program allowed me to
study higher education administration, comparative international education, and
models for intercultural engagement. I also got to study abroad again, this time in Peru!
In February 2007, I joined the Office of International Education at Georgia Tech as an
advisor for exchange programs in Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and the UK. In that
position, I was in charge of intercultural orientations, re-entry programming, and thetransfer credit process. I transitioned into working with the International Plan in early
2011, but moved to Charlotte later that year to join my husband who was working
there. During my time in Charlotte, I have continued working in international education
at Providence Day School and Davidson College. I am very excited to have the
opportunity to return to Atlanta and Georgia Tech and serve as the Assistant Director for
the IP. I look forward to working with all of you as you progress through the IP and your
international journeys!
