Our yards have taken a beating this win-ter and many of us are losing the "weed wars." We're trying to line up speakers that can answer lawn and garden issues. Please join us! �

Glenbrook Valley Civic Club

Mission Statement: The Glenbrook Valley Civic Club will work toward the betterment of the neighborhood and stimulate pride in ownership in Glenbrook Valley. This is done through our volunteer efforts to maintain uniformly high standards through the enforcement of the deed re-strictions and education about the neighborhood.

The purposes of your Civic Club, as stated in the By-laws, are: A. to stimulate pride of ownership and residence in Glenbrook Valley, B. to encourage a uniformly high level of care and maintenance in the subdivi-sion, C. to take the lead in maintaining stan-dards through enforcement of the deed restrictions.

Your Civic Club also serves as a bridge from the community to the various gov-ernmental entities that impact upon it. We receive calls every day from

Burglary Update

Last month we reported there were 13 kick-ins in the area. These took

place between January 1 and 20. The 13 were in Gulf Freeway Oaks, Meadowbrook Freeway, and Glenbrook Valley. The Burglary and Theft Division Investigators were assigned to work on this. There's good news and bad news with these numbers. The good news is suspects were arrested; the bad news is that some of the sus-pects live in the neighborhood. �

Any time a home is damaged by burglary, weather, etc., emergency repairs may be made in order to in-sure security. Then apply for the permit and explain the circum-stances. Personal safety is a prior-ity. Common sense is the governor of what is a legitimate emergency. �

Sign Replacement

We need your help! C.O.P. was es-tablished 20 years ago. At the time 24 signs were placed at various en-try points throughout the patrol area. Over the years, most of the signs have been destroyed, others are damaged or faded. The COP signage are "specialty" signs and not replaced by the City of Hous-ton. It's up to us to replace the signs. We will be able to buy them through HPD at the discounted rate of $25.00 per sign. Many sign poles will also need to be purchased. They will cost $15.00 each. We would greatly appreciate your spon-sorship donation for a sign to help protect Glenbrook Valley. Please send your contribution to COP Signs; P.O. Box 262164; Houston, TX 77207-2161.

After the original COP signs went up to announce to the world that we had a neighborhood watch, there was a significant reduction of crime in the neighborhood.

There are 32 points of entry into Glenbrook Valley! It would be great if we had the funds to post a sign at every entrance. �
