SPOTLIGHT Seminar and Reception with Distinguished Ag Alumnus Dr. Kristen Page on March 13 Distinguished Ag Alumnus Dr. Kristen Page will be on-campus Friday, March 13. Dr. Page received her PhD at Purdue University with her thesis focusing on the ecology and transmission dynamics of raccoon roundworm. Dr. Page's research today continues to focus on the raccoon roundworm, how it’s transmitted, and how its presence can be decreased in public areas. She is also interested in how disease transmission dynamics can be a function of land use as well as connections between parasite and HIV infections in patients abroad. Her work has taken her around the globe to several countries helping tackle conservation, agricultural and medical challenges. Dr. Page will be holding a seminar on “perspectives and challenges of a career” at 10:30 a.m. in PFEN 241, and a reception will follow. A College of Ag reception will be at 3:00 p.m. in the PMU North Ballroom. FNR Alumni-Student Networking Social Event RSVP Deadline is Tuesday, March 24 Join fellow FNR alumni and students for a casual networking reception to chat about shared FNR experiences and general career advice on Wednesday, April 1 from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. in Leopold’s Landing (PFEN 2nd floor). This free event is open to all FNR alumni and students. Light refreshments will be served and the dress code is business casual. Space is limited, so RSVP today . Seminar and Reception with Distinguished Ag Alumnus Dr. Kristen Page on March 13

Distinguished Ag Alumnus Dr. Kristen Page will be on-campus Friday, March 13. Dr. Page received her PhD at Purdue University with her thesis focusing on the ecology and transmission dynamics of raccoon roundworm. Become an International Student Ambassadors The ISS is currently seeking application for International Student Ambassadors. Ambassadors help welcome and aid new international students and are required to be available for Weeks of Welcome events from August 10-21, 2020. This is a yearlong commitment (August 2020 – May 2021) and is open to all current students. Once accepted you first task is to assist with Weeks of Welcome. If interested in applying, email your resume to [email protected]. Applications are due March 13. World Water Day Events at Purdue Purdue will be hosting the third annual World Water Day celebration at Purdue with theme water and climate change. This is an opportunity to educate Purdue students, faculty and the local community about what different research groups, organizations and companies are doing to protect, preserve and enhance the water resources in our state and around the globe. Purdue Water Day is taking place in conjunction with the UN World Water Day with the theme of water &

climate change. Purdue events will take place March 26, 2020. Click here to RSVP and to learn more. Apply to be a Pre-Professional Ambassador Pre-Professional Advising is recruiting pre-health and pre-law students to join our Ambassador team for the 2020-2021 academic year. Social Impact Career Fair April 2 On April 2, 2020, the College of Liberal Arts and Purdue CCO are co-hosting Purdue’s first-ever Social Impact Career Fair. This career fair is open to all majors and provides a unique opportunity to connect non-profits, government agencies, and socially responsible for-profit organizations with students who have a passion for making a difference. 30+ employers have registered to attend. These employers range from national organizations like the United States Peace Corps and Make-a-Wish Foundation to more local opportunities like the Indiana Department of Corrections and the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis. The fair is scheduled to take place in the PMU North Ballroom from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Emerging Women in Ag Leadership Awards The Purdue WIA Team is currently accepting applications for the 2020 Purdue Women in Agriculture Awards. Nominees will be placed in the Leadership, Achievement or Emerging Women in Ag categories for award consideration as deemed appropriate. Women may nominate themselves, or be nominated by someone else by the May 1st deadline. See the application here and more info here. Pre-Professional Ambassador Program

Academic Year 2020-2021 Application Information

Pre-Professional Ambassadors are a select group of students who are dedicated to the positive

promotion of pre-professional studies at Purdue University. The group is comprised of pre-

professional students from many different majors and representing different career interests.

Ambassadors will have the important role of communicating their knowledge of what it is like

to be a pre-professional student at Purdue to prospective students and families. Ambassadors

also have the opportunity to work closely with Purdue staff at various campus events, serving

as an essential component of the Pre-Professional Advising Office’s recruiting efforts.

Apply:

Send a resume and cover letter expressing your interest and qualifications for the

position to [email protected] by 5pm on Monday, March 30, 2020. Put

“Ambassador Application” in the subject line.

Responsibilities:

To positively represent Purdue University, its students and staff, and the Pre-

Professional Advising office, at campus events

To present information about being a pre-professional student at Purdue to prospective

students and their families

To maintain active and productive membership by attending all Ambassador meetings,

participating in recruiting events and volunteering when needed

Specific Duties May Include:

Mingling, hosting and providing information to prospective students and families at

recruiting events

Formally speaking about your pre-professional experience

Participation in programs including but not limited to workshops, class visits, Boiler Gold

Rush, Fall Preview Day, Introducing Purdue, Purdue’s for Me, and Health Programs Expo
