Year 6 Graduation Last night was another exciting but emotional night for our school community.

We were able to congratulate our Year 6 students on graduating from primary

school and farewell them as they prepare for the transition into secondary

school. While all the students have had a successful year, the Graduation

Ceremony also recognised the exceptional achievements of students.

Ace Foundation Encouragement Award: Each year the ACE Foundation lead by the Board Chair Dr. Leon Shapero has provided our school with six

awards. These students have pushed themselves through challenging situations. They have had to be brave

and risk takers. In class, they are increasingly focussed and motivated, respectful and self-driven to be

successful.

Congratulations to: Braydon.D, Tenkai.K, Tahni.G, Ella.R, Amber.G, and Ahmed.A

Academic Excellence Award:

Farewell to Year 6 Assembly – Friday 20th December 1.10pm A special farewell and congratulations to our Graduating Class of Year 6, 2018. Many of you came to the school in Foundation baby faced and with minds like sponges ready to absorb everything you encoun-tered. You leave us on the verge of becoming teenagers and secondary marks the next chapter of your school life. I hope that you will all carry your experiences from Maramba with you wherever you go, and that you will use your memories of your time here to inspire you as you take this next big step in your life. At 1.10pm, we will have a special assembly on Friday devoted to the Year 6s to say goodbye. This will be a special dedicated gathering so they can sing their farewell song at the end of their last day of primary school. As a school, we can wish them all the best for the future. We hope you are able to join us for this special occasion. Friends of Maramba (FOM) Annual General Meeting (AGM) The committee does a brilliant job at supporting the school community in a range of ways from running the canteen to organising fundraising events and working bees. Without their valuable contribution many of the programs around the school for all students would not be possible. Next Wednesday 18th December, 6pm in the staff room, FOM will hold their Annual AGM meeting. Each year, the FOM committee holds an AGM to acknowledge the work of the committee and to elect com-mittee bearers for the beginning of each New Year. As part of the AGM nominations and elections were taken for the roles of President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. All new prospective community members are welcome to attend. New Enrolments to Maramba in 2020? Thank you to the families who contacted other friends or families to ensure they enrol now if they are in-tending to come to Maramba in 2020. Our Foundation classes are almost at full capacity, so I ask you to talk to anyone you know who is coming to Maramba but hasn't enrolled yet to come to the office asap to enrol. The better estimate we have of our numbers for 2020 the better we can plan for all of our students. Thank you! Kind regards, Darren Wallace Principal

Assistant Principal Report

Camp Rumbug Camp

Camp Rumbug was an absolute roaring success. The Year 3/4/5 students enjoyed every second of our tree climb-ing, abseiling, bushwalking, and flying fox adventure. The camp nights were filled with wacky races, trivia and team building activities that helped the students display their budding resilience and relationship skills with one another. A massive congratulations to all students who attended as the Rumbug staff commented on their phenomenal be-haviour, impeccable manners and outstanding respect. These are the reflections of the students who attended the camp and who were at school:

This week all the Year 3, 4 and 5 children went to camp but some students stayed behind. I was a little bit sad that I was going to be all alone but now I think how truly wrong I was. The year threes, fours and fives had lots of fun together doing these ac-tivities. We researched some fun fact about a place in Australia and we booked tickets! Well I could say we pretended to book a flight.

We also did some relaxing zentangles designs and guess what, we learnt two different types of codes so we could have inter-esting and mysterious secrets. And last but not least, my favourite activity was when we took creative photos with a bird eye view. Even though some of the year 3,4 and 5 students did not go on camp we all had as much fun as them. Megan 34F16

On Tuesday, we had two projects to complete. The first one was related to geography and we were to research a place in Aus-tralia and give clues of the place without naming it. We were in partners and I believed everyone cooperated wonderfully. After that, we had to do a photography project. I did lots of creative photos. This had to do with perspective and shapes. Later we did something called ‘zentangles’. This is where you go wild with patterns! You draw patterns and you gradually connect them. This is a relaxing and mindfulness activity. It helps calm yourselves and wellbeing. We were learning new skills each day, like people at camp, I had a fabulous time. Dilmi 5R20

Camp was extremely awesome I loved the giant swing, the flying Fox and the adventure bridge also known as the low ropes. Ethan 5K18

I am scared of heights and I did the abseiling which was great. I was excited about the giant swing. Caeley 3/4P14

I am a bit scared of some high things, but I was determined to do the giant swing. It was a great achievement. Mili 3/4 P 14

I loved the mud run the best because you got to run through the mud. Some parts were deep and you could of easily slipped right into it. Stevan 3/4W13

I liked the flying fox because it is really high and everyone got to go with their friend. I like how we could do stuff in the air. Jett 3/4W13

On the giant swing you pull a string and then you fly through the air and you see a beautiful view. I liked that that the best. Miah 3/4F16

Congratulations Emma Logie!

On Tuesday night Emma Logie was awarded with a citizenship and leadership award from Casey Council.

Emma is the Performing Arts captain for 2019, and is extremely committed to her role - organising

special events throughout the year for the whole school.

What sets Emma apart from other students however, is her commitment to raising awareness for the

Leukaemia Foundation, and tangible support for a number of charities.

Earlier this year she cut off 15 inches of her hair, donating it to be made into wigs for cancer patients.

Along the way, Emma independently raised $1000 for patient support through the Royal Children’s

Hospital, the Ronald McDonald Homeless Centre and Jasmine’s Journey.

Understanding the impact of her efforts has led to further action, with Emma subsequently holding a stall

at a local market to raise money for headspace, cancer support and BK 2 Basics, a local not-for-profit

organisation providing assistance to disadvantaged people. With her remarkable volunteering spirit,

Emma raised a further $1500 through this venture for her chosen charities.

Emma’s selfless support for those in need, and the determination with which she pursues and realises

her objectives, is inspiring.
