Mar 8 th Afternoon Dispatch Haoming Ma We visit Grange laboratory at about 12pm, and we visit 3 labs. The first one was dealing with the simulation of the geothermal system. The second one is about reservoir simulation there are two machines that was used in this lab with can simulate the reservoir conditions with pressure up to 500 bar and temperature up to 400 degree Celsius. The last lab is dealing with bacteria, it is really hard to believe that about 5 cm 3 soil can contain 10 billion bacteria and in order to the tube was keep shaking for the experiment. The shaking machine was very fantastic and can hold 48 tubes at the same time. Another very important usage of geothermal is hot spring, we went the tourism to the Wairakei hot spring to enjoy the geothermal energy. There are three to four pools, it is silica and mineral water containing, it is tasted wired but the upper pool is much hotter the temperature is about over 40 degree Celsius. It was really an enjoyable afternoon, we got much loose time and flexible schedule due to the rain. Visit the Taupo town again, the lake view is also very nice. We will leave this quiet place tomorrow at 9 am. I will definitely miss here. In addition, I did not see too many traffic lights on the road. We are head to Taranaki to tomorrow.
