The next AHA monthly meeting ison Thursday, January 25, at 52
WellesAvenue, hosted by Lex Stevens andDavid Stitt. The meeting
begins at 7:30p.m., with a light supper at 7; dessertsare welcome
as always. On the agenda:a report on the “Love Your Block”grant
application for trash barrels alongAshmont Street recently
submitted tothe City of Boston by a group of neigh-bors;
information about the BostonPolice Department’s new
CamSharesecurity camera program for both busi-nesses and residents;
the regular C-11report; new business and announce-ments.
All Ashmont Hill neighbors, whetherowners or renters, newcomers,
long-timers or in between, are welcome andencouraged to attend AHA
meetingsand other neighborhood activities.AHA meets on the fourth
Thursday ofthe month. We have a long tradition ofmeeting in
neighborhood homes toencourage sociability and informality;the
upcoming meeting location isannounced each month in the
AshmontOutlook.
Winter Farmers MarketStarts Jan. 27
The Dorchester Winter Farmers Mar-ket returns to the Great Hall,
6 NorfolkStreet in Codman Square, on Satur-days, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.,
from January27 to March 31. Each week, the marketbrings together
local farmers, food pro-ducers, artists, and more, so you canget
fresh, local produce and goodsright here in the neighborhood.
This year’s vendors include, for pro-duce, Oakdale Farm, Farmer
Dave, andMycoterra Farm (fresh local gourmetmushrooms); for
meat/seafood/dairy,Stonycreek Farm and Moonlight Farm;Iggy’s Bread;
and Bittersweet HerbFarm, offering flavored oils, vinegars,herb
mixes, etc., plus honey fromTewksbury Farm. City Compost will beon
hand with information about theircomposting service. From February

Note that all chili must beprepared in a certified
commercialkitchen; team up with a restaurant orcaterer and offer a
joint entry, or ask arestaurant, caterer, or other
commercialenterprise if you can use their kitchen.Aluminum pans for
the chili (10quarts) are provided to each entrant inadvance;
chafing dishes are set up ateach entrant’s table at the IBEW.
Chilimust be brought to the cook-offalready heated; a city health
inspectorchecks to be sure it is at regulationtemperature when it
is served. Partici-pants are given credentials for threeindividuals
to set up and serve.
Cook-off tickets are $20/adult, $30 forfamily up to 4,

As noted in the last issue of the Out-look, Greater Ashmont Main
Street wascrowdfunding in November andDecember for additional
improvementsto Peabody Square, including seating,plantings, paving,
