As you can see from these 70 projects under construction or recently completed, Plaquemines is well into its recovery. We’re making so much progress that these projects may look different by the time you see this. We didn’t want to settle for what we had before Katrina, we wanted to make Plaquemines Parish better for the future generations. The recovery through four hurricanes has been a massive undertaking. Countless hours have been spent by elected officials, parish employees, volunteers, and committees to get these projects where they are today. I look forward to the day when everything is complete. I think of the recovery in three phases: planning, building, and repopulating. The Parish Government is doing its part leading this recovery. Plaquemines Parish is a great place to live. The culture, food, lifestyle, and people are unique, even in a state as diverse as Louisiana. It’s a safe place to live, thanks to Sheriff Hingle and his deputies and we have the best Volunteer Fire Firefighters around. Along with the Parish Council, we’re making long term plans for the betterment of Plaquemines with things like our Coastal Plan, deepening Baptiste Collette, and building the Bypass Road. We’re also focused on smaller issues. The Council and Administration want to address every complaint and problem and help fix them. Whether it’s a pot hole, hazardous debris, or replacing a street light, we’re working to improve the quality of life for the people of Plaquemines Parish. Let’s keep the momentum going! its recovery. We’re making so much progress that these projects may look different by the time you see this.
We didn’t want to settle for what we had before Katrina, we wanted to make Plaquemines Parish better for the future generations. The recovery through four hurricanes has been a massive undertaking.
