MANUALLY DESCALING JURA ESPRESSO MAKER Best quality of espresso is made with freshly ground beans, water at 185F & extraction pressure at 9 Bars. For best results, espresso makers should be Manually descaled every two or three months. Use Best Descaler #DSC-6x2 sold by Services Unlimited, Inc. Here is the link: Click Here to order Jura manuals emphasize that using filter cartridges from other sources can damage the machine. That is not true. Brita attached to the water tap in the kicthen does same or better job. Jura Filter cartridges are preventative, expensive & ineffective. To ensure sale of filters, Jura has set up electronic reminders. In some models the machine if filter is not replaced after 3rd. reminder. To eliminate the reminders for change of Jura Filter, the reminders should be de-activated. enter the programming and de-activate the reminders. Simply check "NO" for the use or reminder. Electronic descaling in any automatic espresso machine is an incomplete process as it does not flush the espresso side of the machine as a parts of complete descaling. The rinse function in the machine must be used to flush Descaling solution through the coffee water passages. We have repaird in our workshop over 400 Jura machines since 2011 & Calcium sediment are seen in every machine. Pictures sent by Jura owners are diasplayed on page (2). Calcium deposit in the hydraulic system reduces pump pressure due to back pressure caused by internal back pressure. This reduces the pumping pressure for espresso extraction. Espresso dribbles into the cup or flow only from one of the two spouts. Internal Back pressure adds stress on O-rings, & seals; cause leakage from joints. Weak parts like Membrane regulator, Thermoblock dispensing valve, Ceramic valve, Drainage valve start to leak display Error codes 8; 1; 4, or fill water. Use the steps below for complete removal of Calcium sediment in the hydraulic system: 1- Dissolve one packet of Best descaler in 4-cups of water. Use one more packets if needed, to fill up the water tank. 2- Make sure there is no coffee in the pre-ground inlet. 3- Use 6 to 8 rinse cycles with a pause of 5 minutes between each. This will flush the descaling solution through the coffee system, restore pump pressure & clean the Brew group and coffee outlet. 4- Refill the tank with additional descaler & flush 6 to 8 times 1/2 cup at a time from the hot water dispensing outlet. Allow 5 minutes between each flushing. Use additional flushings to make sure the accumulations are removed completely. When flushing is complete, rinse the water tank with fresh water. Fill it up with fresh clean water and flush the machine clean, using two or three rinse cycles and three or four flushings from the hot water outlet. This final flushing will remove any descaler remaing in the system. For a final rinsing, make one espresso and discard it. Caution: Do not dip or spill descaling solution on any chrome plated objects & parts. The descaling soultion will cause pitting on chromed surfaces & turn them black permanently.
