We congratulate you on the pur-chase of your new device. Youhave chosen a high quality product.

Familiarise yourself with the product beforeusing it for the first time. In addition, pleasecarefully refer to the operating instructions

and the safety advice below. Only use theproduct as instructed and only for the statedareas of use. You should keep these instruc-tions. If you pass the product on to anyoneelse, please ensure that you also pass on allthe documentation with it.

General functionWith the programmable Classic Model Lradiator control unit with a pre-programmed

heating and temperature reducing programwhich can be set individually, it is possible tocontrol the room temperature in a time-con-trolled manner. The device moves a valve tocontrol the flow of heat to the radiator. The

programmable radiator control unit fits allcommon radiator valves and is easy to install- without discharging the heating water orinterfering with the heating system. The addi-tional BOOST function enables the radiatorto be heated up quickly for a brief period of

time by opening the valve for 5 minutes. Thisgives an immediate and pleasant feeling ofwarmth in the room.

Intended useThe programmable radiator control unit is

used to control a conventional radiator valve.Only operate the device in inside rooms andavoid the influence of moisture, dust and sun-light or external heat radiation. Any type of

Safety Instructions forbatteries Never recharge non-recharge-

able batteries and do notshort-circuit and / or open any

batteries. The battery may overheat, ignite

or explode. Never throw batteries intofire or water. The batteries may explode.

Inserting / replacing batteries Pull off the battery compartment cover on

the underside of the device.

Insert 2 new LR6 (Mignon / A A) batteriesinto the battery compartment with thecorrect polarity.

Replace the battery cover and latch it in.

Note:The life span of new alkaline batteriesis approx. 3 years. A battery symbol in-dicates that the batteries should be replaced.After the batteries have been removed, youshould wait approx. 1 minute before inserting

the new batteries. Operation with rechargea-ble batteries is not possible.

Setting the date and time

Note:If batteries are inserted or replaced,

the date and time is automatically requestedafter a brief display of the firmware versionnumber.

Set the year, month, day, hour and min-ute 3 with the selector dial 6 and con-

firm with OK 5 , see fig. A. The motormoves the control pin backwards duringthe setting of the date and time.

The display of INS with the rotatingshows that the motor is still travelling back.As soon as INS is displayed, the pro-grammable radiator control unit can beinstalled on the valve.

The weekly program and other settingscan be adjusted before installation. Pressthe MODE key 7 for this, while INS isshown in the display. You can find moredetails under Configuration menu.After the programming has been com-

pleted, INS is shown again in the dis-play and installation can take place.

Installation on the radiator

The installation of the programmable radiator

control unit is easy and can be performedwithout discharging the heating water or inter-fering with the heating system. Special tools orswitching off the heating are not required. The

The programmable radiator control units canbe installed on Danfoss RA, Danfoss RAV and

Danfoss RAVL valves, by means of the adaptersand extension pins contained in the delivery.

Removing the oldthermostat head

Turn the thermostat head to the maximum

value 10 in an anticlockwise direction.The thermostat head does not now presson the valve spindle and it can thereforebe removed more easily (see fig. B).

There can be different types of thermostat

head fixing:

Union nut:Screw the union nut anti-clockwise 13 . Thenyou can remove the thermostat head 11 .

Snap-on fastenings:

You can easily release thermostat headsfastened in this way by turning the clo-sure fastening/union nut a small amountin an anticlockwise direction 12 . Then youcan remove the thermostat head 11 .

Clamping screw connections: The thermostat head is held by means ofa fastening ring, which is held together bya screw. Release this screw and removethe thermostat head from the valve 11 .

Screw connection with setscrews: Release the setscrew and remove thethermostat head 11 .

Adapters for Danfoss Take care during installation that you do

not trap your fingers between the two halvesof the adapter!

One of the enclosed adapters is required forinstallation on Danfoss valves. The arrangementof the suitable adapter ring for the appropriatevalve can be found in the figures CF.The Danfoss valve bodies have elongatedindentations 13 running all around, which

also ensure better seating of the adapterafter it has been latched into place.Note:When installing, please ensure thatthe spigots inside the adapter 14 are in thesame position as the indentations 13 on thevalve.

Screw the adapter, which fits the valve,onto the valve until it clicks into place.

The RA and RAV adapters have been pro-duced with pre-tension to aid better seating.Use a screw driver during installation if neces-sary and bend these gently upwards in thearea of the screw.

After they have been latched onto thevalve body, fasten the adapters with theenclosed screw and nut (see fig. C).Note:When installing, please ensurethat the spigots inside the adapter 14 arein the same position as the indentations 13

on the valve. Latch the adapter, which corresponds tothe valve, completely onto the valve body.

With the RAV type of valve, the tappet exten-sion 15 should be placed on the valve pin

before installation (see fig. D).Note:When installing, please ensure that thespigots inside the adapter 14 are in the sameposition as the indentations 13 on the valve.

Latch the adapter, which corresponds tothe valve, completely onto the valve body.

The RAVL adapter does not have to be screwedon (see fig. E).

Retaining ringThe valves of a number of suppliers can ex-hibit tolerance variations, which may lead tothe programmable radiator control unit beingseated too loosely on the valve. The stabilityand seating on the valve can be improved by

using the enclosed retaining ring (see fig. F). Place the retaining ring 16 in the flangeor on the valve connection of the radiatorand screw the thermostat valve on.

Note:If the retaining ring can not be fit-ted, the stability is already sufficient andthe ring is not required for the installation.

Adapting run

After the batteries have been inserted, themotor first travels back, during which INSand the activity symbol are displayed. Assoon as INS without the activity symbolis displayed, the programmable radiator

control unit can be installed. An adapting run(AdA) is performed after installation toadapt to the valve. Place the programmable radiator control

unit on the valve. Tighten the union nut firmly.

Press the BOOST key 5 , when INS isshown in the display.

The intelligent radiator control unit carries outa test run.During this time AdA and the activity sym-bol are shown in the display and operationis not possible.

Note: If the adapting run is initiated beforeinstallation, the motor similarly travels back tothe INS position. If an error message (F1,F2, F3) is displayed, press OK and the motortravels back to the INS position.

Start-up Setting the weekly program

Up to 3 heating phases (7 switching time points)can be set separately for each weekday inthe weekly program. The programming is done

for the selected days and temperatures must bestored for a time period from 00:00 to 23:59.

Press the Menu key 7 longer than3 seconds. PRO appears in the display.Confirm with the OK key 5 .

DAY appears in the display. With the se-lector dial can be selected an individual

weekday, all working days, the weekend orthe whole week (example working days).

Confirm with the OK key. The first switchingtime point is displayed (0:00), this can

not be changed. The heating times arealso displayed as bars. Confirm with the OK key.

After this you can set the temperature whichis desired from 0:00 (example 17.0 C).

Confirm with the OK key.

The next switching time point is displayed(example 6:00). You can adjust thisindividually.

Finally set the temperature which shouldprevail from 6:00.

You can repeat this procedure until all theother desired temperatures for the timeperiod from 0:00 to 23:59 have been

stored. If all 7 switching time points havebeen allocated, 23:59 is displayed asthe final switching point to be confirmed.

The temperature can also be changed inAuto mode at any time via the selector dial.

The changed temperature is then retaineduntil the next switching time point.

Weekly program: examples

Up to 3 heating times (7 switching time points)

with individual temperature setting can bestored for each weekday with the program-mable radiator control unit.

Operating modesBy briefly pressing the MODE key 7 , you canchange between the following 3 operatingmodes (the operating modes can only be se-lected after installation):

- Holiday function: Setting a tempera-ture, which has to be maintained until a fixedpoint in time.

- Manu:Manual mode - the temperature isset manually via the selector dial.

- Auto:Weekly program - automatic temper-

ature control corresponding to the savedweekly program.

Configuration menuSettings can be changed in the configurationmenu. The menu can be called up by pressing

the Menu key 7 for a longer time (longerthan 3 seconds). Menu items are selected withthe selector dial 6 and confirmed with OK 5 .If you press the Menu key once more, this takes

you back to the previous level. If there is nofurther activation of the device for more than65 seconds, the menu closes automatically.You can perform the following settings:

PRO: Setting the weekly program (seesection Setting weekly program)

DAT: Changing the time and datePOS: Querying the current position of

the intelligent radiator control unitDST: The automatic switching between

summer time and winter time canbe deactivated.AER: Window open temperature and

setting the time for the automatictemperature reduction duringventilation

TOF: Setting the offset temperatureRES: Restoring the factory settings

Display content innormal mode

Switching time periods, operating mode, tar-get temperature and week day are displayedin normal mode. The bars for the switching

time periods of the weekly program are dis-played for every second time interval (see ex-ample under Weekly program: examples).

BOOST function

The BOOST function uses the human percep-tion of warmth. When activated, the heatingvalve is immediately opened to 80% for5 minutes (factory setting).

The heating of a room takes longer than5 minutes, but the heat given off by the radia-tor can be felt immediately. If you are cominghome earlier and want to have heat quickly,or if you need extra heat in the morning for a

bath, then the BOOST function will help you.

Press the BOOST key 5 to activate theboost function.

The remaining duration of the function is

counted down in seconds (B299 to B000).After these 5 minutes have elapsed, the intelli-gent radiator control unit changes to the modewhich was previously active (Auto/Manu)with the previously set temperature.The function can be deactivated early at any

time by pressing the key or activating the se-lector dial 6 .

Note: The BOOST key has an immediate ef-fect if the radiator is covered (e.g. by a sofa).The Window open detection is deactivatedduring the BOOST function.

Setting the holiday functionIf a fixed temperature needs to be maintainedduring a holiday or a party for a certain pe-riod of time, the holiday function can be used.

Press the Menu key 7 briefly as often as

necessary until the Suitcase symbolappears in the display. Set the time via the selector dial 6 up to

which the temperature is to be maintainedand then confirm with the OK key 5 .

Then set the date with the selector dial

and confirm with the OK key. Set the temperature with the selector dialand confirm with the OK key. The displayflashes as confirmation.

The set temperature is maintained untilthe time point which has been set.Then the intelligent radiator control unitgoes to Auto mode.

Comfortable temperatureand reduced temperature

The key for comfortable temperature / reducedtemperature provides for a convenient andsimple switching between these two tempera-

tures. These have been set at the factory at21.0 C (comfortable temperature) and 17.0 C(reduced temperature). They can be adjustedas follows:

Hold the key for Comfortable tempera-

ture / reduced temperature 4 for along period. The Sun symbol and thecurrently stored comfortable temperatureappear in the display.

Change the temperature with the selectordial 6 and confirm with the OK key 5 .The Moon symbol and the reducedtemperature appear in the display.

The temperature can also be changed in Automode at any time via the key. This is then re-tained until the next switching time point of theprogram.

Child safeguard /operating lock

The operation of the device can be blocked: To activate/deactivate the operating lock,

press the Menu button 7 and keys at

the same time. After it has been successfullyactivated, LOC appears in the display. To deactivate the operating lock, press

both keys again.

Activating heating pause(battery saving)

If the heating is switched off in the summer,the batteries can be saved. With this the valveis completely opened. The protection against

calcification continues however to be carried out.To activate the heating pause proceed asfollows: Turn the selector dial 6 in manual mode

(Manu)to the right until ON appearsin the display.

Note:The break in the heating period isnow set. To end it, exit the manual mode (Manu)

or turn the selector dial to the left.

Setting the frost

protection modeIf a room is not to be heated, the valve canbe closed. The valve is only opened if there is

danger of frost. The protection against calcifi-cation continues however to be carried out.To deactivate the frost protection proceed asfollows: Turn the selector dial 6 in manual mode

(Manu)to the left until OFF appearsin the display.

To end it, exit the manual mode (Manu)or turn the selector dial to the right.

Window open function

With a rapidly reducing temperature, the in-telligent radiator control unit automaticallydetects that a room is being ventilated. In or-der to save heating costs, the temperature isthen regulated down for a certain period oftime (15 minutes, set at the factory). During

this period the Window open symbol isshown in the display.

To activate this function proceed as follows: Press the Menu key 7 longer than

3 seconds. Select the AER menu item with the

selector dial 6 and confirm with the OK

key 5 . The temperature and time can be set with

the selector dial. The function can be de-activated by selecting 0 for the time.

Setting the offset

temperatureSince the temperature is measured at the radi-ator, it can be colder or warmer at anotherlocation in the room. In order to equalise this,a temperature offset of +/- 3.5 C can be set.If for example 18 C is measured instead of

the set 20 C, then an offset of -2.0 C is tobe set.

To set the offset temperature proceed asfollows: Press the Menu key 7 longer than

3 seconds. Select the TOF menu item with the se-

lector dial 6 and confirm with the OKkey 5 .

Turn the selector dial for as long asnecessary until the desired temperatureappears.


Restoring the factorysettings

The status of the programmable radiator con-trol unit can be manually restored by meansof a reset to that when originally supplied.

This means that all the manually performedsettings are lost.

Heizkrperregler passt auf alle gngigenHeizkrperventile und ist einfach zu montieren ohne Ablassen von Heizungswasser odereinen Eingriff in das Heizungssystem. Diezustzliche BOOST-Funktion ermglicht einschnelles, kurzzeitiges Aufheizen des Heizkr-

pers durch ffnung des Ventils fr 5 Minuten.Dadurch wird sofort ein angenehmes Wrme-gefhl im Raum erreicht.

Legen Sie 2 neue Batterien vom TypLR6 (Mignon / AA) polungsrichtig in dasBatteriefach ein.

Setzen Sie den Batteriefachdeckel wiederauf und rasten Sie ihn ein.

Hinweis:Die Lebensdauer neuer Alkalin-Batterien betrgt ca. 3 Jahre. Ein Batteriesymbol

weist darauf hin, dass die Batterien aus-zutauschen sind. Nach Entnahme der Batteriensollte bis zum Einlegen der neuen Batterien

ca. 1 Minute gewartet werden. Ein Betriebmit Akkus ist nicht mglich.

Datum und Uhrzeiteinstellen

Hinweis:Wenn Batterien eingelegt oderausgetauscht werden, wird nach kurzer Anzeigeder Firmware-Versionsnummer automatischDatum und Uhrzeit abgefragt.

bereits zurck. Die Anzeige INS mit drehendem

weist darauf hin, dass der Motor nochzurckfhrt. Sobald der programmierbareHeizkrperregler am Ventil montiert werdenkann, steht nur INS im Display.

Das Wochenprogramm und andere Ein-stellungen knnen vor der Montage an-gepasst werden. Drcken Sie dazu dieMODE-Taste 7 , whrend in der AnzeigeINS steht. Mehr Details finden Sie unterKonfigurationsmen.

Nach abgeschlossener Programmierungsteht erneut INS im Display und dieMontage kann erfolgen.

Montage am Heizkrper

Die Montage des programmierbaren Heiz-krperreglers ist einfach und kann ohne Ablas-sen von Heizungswasser oder Eingriff in das

Heizungssystem erfolgen. Spezialwerkzeugoder ein Abschalten der Heizung sind nichterforderlich. Die am programmierbaren Heiz-krperregler angebrachte berwurfmutter istuniversell einsetzbar und ohne Zubehr passendfr alle Ventile mit dem Gewindema

Alten Thermostatkopfdemontieren

Drehen Sie den Thermostatkopf auf denMaximalwert 10 (gegen den Uhrzeigersinn).Der Thermostatkopf drckt jetzt nicht mehr

auf die Ventilspindel und kann so leichterdemontiert werden (siehe Abb. B).

Die Fixierung des Thermostatkopfes kannunterschiedlich ausgefhrt sein:

berwurfmutter:Schrauben Sie die berwurfmutter gegenden Uhrzeigersinn ab 13 . Danach knnenSie den Thermostatkopf abnehmen 11 .

Schieben Sie den zum Ventil passendenAdapter auf das Ventil, bis dieser einrastet.

Die Adapter RA und RAV wurden Zugunsteneines besseren Sitzes mit Vorspannung produ-ziert. Bei Montage verwenden Sie ggf. einen

Schraubendreher, und biegen diese im Bereichder Schraube leicht auf. Nach dem Aufrasten auf den Ventilkrper

befestigen Sie die Adapter bitte mit der

beiliegenden Schraube und Mutter (sieheAbb. C).

Hinweis: Achten Sie bei der Montagebitte darauf, dass die Zapfen im Inneren desAdapters 14 eine deckungsgleiche Position

zu den Einkerbungen 13 am Ventil haben. Rasten Sie den zum Ventil passenden

Adapter vollstndig auf.

Auf Ventile vom Typ RAV ist vor der Montagedie Stelverlngerung 15 auf den Ventilstift

aufzusetzen (siehe Abb. D).Hinweis:Achten Sie bei der Montage bittedarauf, dass die Zapfen im Inneren des Ad-apters 14 eine deckungsgleiche Position zuden Einkerbungen 13 am Ventil haben. Rasten Sie den zum Ventil passenden

SttzringDie Ventile verschiedener Hersteller knnenToleranzschwankungen aufweisen, die zueinem zu lockeren Sitz des programmierbaren

Heizkrperreglers auf dem Ventil fhren. Durchdie Verwendung des beigefgten Sttzringsknnen die Stabilitt und der Sitz auf demVentil verbessert werden (siehe Abb. F).

Legen Sie den Sttzring 16 in den Flanschoder auf den Ventilanschluss des Heizkrpers

und schrauben Sie das Thermostatventil an. Hinweis: Kann der Sttzring nicht aufge-steckt werden, ist die Stabilitt ausreichendund er wird fr die Montage nicht bentigt.

Adaptierfahrt

Nach dem Einlegen der Batterien fhrt derMotor zunchst zurck, whrenddessen wirdINS und das Aktivittssymbol angezeigt.

Sobald INS ohne Aktivittssymbol imDisplay steht, kann der programmierbareHeizkrperregler montiert werden. Danachwird zur Anpassung ans Ventil eine Adaptier-fahrt (AdA) durchgefhrt. Setzen Sie den programmierbaren

Heizkrperregler auf das Ventil. Ziehen Sie die berwurfmutter fest. Drcken Sie die BOOST-Taste 5 , wenn

im Display INS steht.

Der programmierbare Heizkrperregler fhrt

eine Adaptierfahrt durch.Dabei werden AdA und das Aktivittssymbolim Display angezeigt, whrenddessen ist

keine Bedienung mglich.

Im Wochenprogramm lassen sich fr jeden

Wochentag separat bis zu 3 Heizphasen(7 Schaltzeitpunkte) einstellen. Die Program-mierung erfolgt fr die ausgewhlten Tage,wobei fr einen Zeitraum von 00:00 bis 23:59Temperaturen hinterlegt werden mssen.

Drcken Sie die Men-Taste 7 lngerals 3 Sekunden. Im Display erscheint PRO.Besttigen Sie mit der OK-Taste 5 .

fr den Zeitraum von 0:00 bis 23:59 hhinterlegt sind. Sind alle 7 Schaltzeitpunktebelegt, wird 23:59 als Endzeitpunkt zumBesttigen angezeigt.

Im Auto-Modus kann die Temperatur jederzeit

auch ber das Stellrad verndert werden. Diegenderte Temperatur bleibt dann bis zumnchsten Schaltzeitpunkt erhalten.

Temperaturregelung entsprechend dem hin-terlegtem Wochenprogramm.

KonfigurationsmenIm Konfigurationsmen lassen sich Einstellun-gen ndern. Das Men lsst sich ber einen

langen Tastendruck (lnger als 3 Sekunden)der Men-Taste 7 aufrufen. Menpunktewerden mit dem Stellrad 6 ausgewhlt undmit OK 5 besttigt. Ein erneuter Druck der

Im Normalbetrieb werden Schaltzeitrume,Betriebsmodus, Soll-Temperatur und Wochen-tag angezeigt. Die Balken fr Schaltzeitrume

des Wochenprogrammswerden fr jedeszweite Zeitintervall angezeigt (Beispiel unterWochenprogramm: Beispiele).

BOOST-Funktion

Die BOOST-Funktion nutzt das menschlicheWrmeempfinden. Bei Aktivierung wird dasHeizungsventil sofort fr 5 Minuten auf 80%geffnet (Werkseinstellung).

Die Erwrmung eines Raumes dauert lngerals 5 Minuten, doch die vom Heizkrper abge-gebene Wrme kann sofort wahrgenommenwerden. Kommen Sie frher nach Hause undmchten es schnell warm haben oder benti-

gen Sie morgens im Bad extra Wrme, hilftIhnen die BOOST-Funktion.

Drcken Sie die BOOST-Taste 5 zumAktivieren der Boost-Funktion.

Die verbleibende Funktionsdauer wird imSekundentakt heruntergezhlt (B299 bisB000). Nach Ablauf dieser 5 Minuten wech-selt der programmierbare Heizkrperregler inden vorher aktiven Modus (Auto/Manu)mit der vorher eingestellten Temperatur.

Die Funktion lsst sich jederzeit vorzeitigdurch einen Tastendruck oder Bettigen desStellrads 6 deaktivieren.
