Wear ANSI-approved safety goggles,5.heavy-duty work gloves, and dustmask/respirator during set up.

Use only lubricants and fuel recom-6.mended in the engine manual pro-vided by the tractor manufacturer.

Permanent wiring or wiring into an7.existing electrical service MUST bedone by a licensed electrician, andMUST comply with all applicablecodes.

Dont connect the generator directlyto a buildings wiring. A portableelectric generator that is connected

directly to utility line can back feedinto the power lines. This lower volt-age created by the generator canbe increased to thousands of voltsby line transformers. That unex-pected voltage can injure or evenkill a utility lineman making outagerepairs many miles away. Hardwiring can also cause expensivedamage to utility e uipment and thegenerator.

A hard wired generator must beinstalled by a licensed electricianwith a UL approved cut-off switchthat will automatically disconnectthe home from the power grid whenthe generator is being used. Checkwith the local utility company beforehaving a generator hard-wired to abuilding.

Make sure the generator is properly8.grounded to avoid electrical shocks.Connect a 6 ga. or larger insulatedcopper wire to the Ground Con-nection on the Control Panel. Con-nect this wire to a suitable externalground, such as a metal stake in theground.

Dont overload the generator. The9.total wattage used by the devicesshould be less than the output ratingof the generator. If you put too manydevices on the generator, it could

seriously damage them. Overload-ing the generator can also causere. This generator is rated at 15,000Watts. NOTE: At start-up, devicesdraw more power in a surge thanthey do during continuous operation. When guring total wattage of alldevices connected to this generator, use the higher start-up rating of eachdevice.

Do not exceed the current limit speci-10. ed for any one receptacle. Refer tothe Speci cations chart for amperagelimits on each receptacle.

NEVER use inside a home or garage,EVEN IF doors and windows areopen.

Only use OUTSIDE and far awayfrom windows, doors, and vents.

The exposed PTO shaft is danger-2.ous. Do not operate the generator without the guards in place and ingood condition. Stay away from thePTO shaft during operation.

Drive shaft Guards must be in place3.and not spinning. Drive shaft must besecured at both ends.

Keep children away from the e uip-4.

ment, especially while it is operating.Do not leave the e uipment unat-5.tended when it is running. Turn off the e uipment (and remove safetykeys, if available) before leaving thework area.

Wear ANSI-approved safety glasses,6.hearing protection, and NIOSH-ap-proved dust mask/respirator under afull face shield during use.

People with pacemakers should7.consult their physician(s) beforeuse. Electromagnetic elds in closeproximity to a heart pacemaker couldcause pacemaker interference or pacemaker failure. Caution is neces-sary when near the engines magnetoor recoil starter.

Use only accessories that are recom-8.mended by Harbor Freight Tools for your model. Accessories that may besuitable for one piece of e uipmentmay become hazardous when usedon another piece of e uipment.

Do not operate in explosive atmo-9.spheres, such as in the presence of ammable liquids, gases, or dust.Electrical sparks may ignite the dustor fumes.

    Keep the generator, tractor, and10.

surrounding area clean and clear of debris at all times.

Stay alert, watch what you are doing11.and use common sense when operat-ing this piece of e uipment. Do notuse this piece of e uipment whiletired or under the in uence of drugs, alcohol or medication.

Dress properly. Do not wear loose12.

clothing or jewelry. Keep hair, cloth-ing and gloves away from movingparts. Loose clothes, jewelry or longhair can be caught in moving parts.

Do not overreach. Keep proper foot-13.ing and balance at all times. This en-ables better control of the e uipmentin unexpected situations.

Do not cover the engine or generator 14.during operation.

Do not handle any electrical device15.while standing in water, while bare-foot, or while hands or feet are wet.ELECTRICAL SHOCK WILL RE-SULT.

Excessively high drive speeds are16.dangerous. This unit was designedfor the PTO shaft to turn at 540 RPM.Do not operate the Generator at ex-cessively high speeds.

    e t s o cor s

As the distance from the supply outlet1.increases, you must use a heavier gauge extension cord. Using exten-sion cords with inade uately sizedwire causes a serious drop in voltage, resulting in loss of power and pos-sible tool damage. (S T l a.)

The smaller the gauge number of the2.wire, the greater the capacity of thecord. For example, a 14 gauge cordcan carry a higher current than a 16gauge cord. (S T l a.)

When using more than one exten-3.sion cord to make up the total length, make sure each cord contains atleast the minimum wire size re uired.(S T l a.)

If you are using one extension cord4.for more than one tool, add the

nameplate amperes and use the sumto determine the re uired minimumcord size. (S T l a.)

If you are using an extension cord5.outdoors, make sure it is marked withthe suf x W-A (W in Canada) to

indicate it is acceptable for outdoor use.

Make sure the extension cord is prop-6.erly wired and in good electrical con-dition. Always replace a damagedextension cord or have it repaired bya quali ed electrician before using it.

Protect the extension cords from7.sharp objects, excessive heat, anddamp or wet areas.

The PTO shaft must be attached to2.the tractor (not included) and theGenerator. The ends of the PTO shaftslide into the Generator Gearbox, andthe tractor PTO drive.

    3. WaRninG! The PTO shaft mustt properly into the PTO drive. Do notattempt to use this generator if thePTO shaft does not t properly. Se -vere injury or property damage mayresult if the Drive shaft comes looseduring operation.

    4. When installing the PTO shaft, en-sure that it is aligned as (seen fromabove) with both the Generator andthe tractor. Also keep the verticaldifference of the Generator andtractor as small as possible to mini-

mize the angle of the Drive shaftU-joints.

not : Aligning the shafts minimizes tor-sional forces which tend to topple theGenerator. Minimizing vertical anglesreduces friction, heat and wear on theU-joints of the PTO shaft.

Attach the generator to the tractor us-5.ing all 3 connection points and appro-priate hardware (not included). Theconnection method must prevent thegenerator from twisting during opera-tion.

The Generator must be on a solid,6.level surface that is capable of sup-

porting its weight and the forces ap-plied during use.

Check the Gearbox oil level (see7.maintenance section of this manual).

Before operating the Generator, it8.must be grounded. Grounding Ter-minals are provided on the ControlPanel and on the Rear Vent panel of the Generator. Use #6 AWG copper wire or larger to connect to an earth-driven copper or brass grounding rod.Do not operate the Generator withoutgrounding.
