Step 1
Place the cartridge top down on the table withthe drum facing up and the gear end of thetoner hopper is facing towards you. Using asmall flat blade screwdriver, pry off the devel-oper roller drive gear and set it aside. (See Photo 1)

Step 2
Rotate the cartridge to the right so the tonerhopper is facing you. Using a spring hook orneedle nose pliers, gently remove the tonerhopper tension springs from the posts at eachside. (See Photo 2 and 3)

While holding the drive gear of the drum, pullthe drum axle out. (See Photo 6)
Remove the drum and set it aside, being surenot to lose the spring attached to the smallgear side. (See Photo 7)
If you plan on reusing the drum, place the drumin a protected area and out of the light.

Fold together two plates of PCR access shutter.Using your right hand, bend the shutter in themiddle and, carefully bending the waste hopperaway with your left hand, remove the shutter pinfrom the hopper. Remove the other pin and slid-ing guide of the shutter from the waste hopper.Be careful not to damage the waste hopperrecovery blade.(See Photo 8)

Using a small flat blade screwdriver pry thewiper blade away from the waste hopper.(See Photo 10)

While holding onto the toner hopperwith your left hand, carefully bendthe waste hopper away from thegear side of the toner hopper usingyour right hand. Lift the right side ofthe toner hopper up away from thewaste hopper. (See Photo 4)
Separate the toner hopper andwaste hopper. Set the toner hopperaside.NOTE: Do not lose toner hoppertension springs.

Place the waste hopper with thedrum facing up. Using a small flatblade screwdriver remove the “C”clip from the drum axle on the drive(large) gear end of the drum.(See Photo 5)

Step 7Place the waste hopper flat on the work bench.Using a Philips screwdriver remove the twoscrews that hold the wiper blade to the wastehopper.(See Photo 9)

Dump the waste toner from the hopper. Usingdry compressed air or a vacuum, clean thewaste hopper. Visually inspect the waste hop-per recovery blade. If the blade is wavy,nicked, or torn, the blade will have to bereplaced. (See Photo 12)

Step 10
Apply a small amount of padding powder to thenew wiper blade. Place the new blade onto thewaste hopper and install the two screws thathold the blade in place. (See Photo 13)
Step 11
Holding PCR access shutter with your lefthand, install the shutter pin and sliding guideinto the waste hopper. Fold together two platesof PCR access shutter, bend the shutter withyour right hand and install the other pin into thehopper. Be careful not to damage the wastehopper recovery blade. (See Photo 14)

Apply a small amount of padding powder tothe drum. Install the spring on the small gearside. This spring is to prevent the drum fromturning backwards. Place the drum into thewaste hopper. Slide the drum axle through thedrum starting from the large (contact) gear sideof the waste hopper. (See Photo 15)
Install the “C”clip onto the drum axle.

Using a Philips screwdriver remove the screwthat holds a chip to the waste hopper.(See Photo 16)
Install a new chip.
Set the waste hopper aside in a protected areaout of the light.
Step 14
Place the toner hopper on the table(label up) with the developer rollerfacing you. Carefully remove thedoctor blade tension spring from thehopper.(See Photo 17)
NOTE: Do not let the tension springslip and hit the developer roller. Thiswill scratch the roller and couldcause print defects.

Using a small flat blade screwdriverpry the developer roller contact offthe brass contact bearing and slidethe bearing from the end of thehopper and off the developer roller.(See Photo 18)

While holding the shaft of the developer roller,lift the roller out from the hopper and slide thedeveloper roller axle out from the toner hoppergear end plate. (See Photo 19)
Step 17
Remove the Teflon shims from the developerroller and inspect them for damage and wear.Replace the Teflon shims as a set if necessary.

Turn the toner hopper to the right so the fill plugis facing you. Using a small flat blade screw-driver, pry out the toner fill plug carefully and trynot to damage it. Clean the filter inside the fillplug with either vacuum or compressed air.(See Photo 20)

Dump out the toner from the toner hopper.Using dry compressed air or a vacuum clean thetoner hopper. Be very careful not to damage thetoner hopper sealing blade.(See Photo 21)

Using a cotton swab and Isopropyl alcohol,clean the developer roller end seals.(See Photo 22)

Clean the contacts of the toner hopper using acotton swab and Isopropyl alcohol. (See Photo 23)
Clean the underside of the doctor bar with acotton swab and isopropyl alcohol. (See Photo 24)

Visually inspect the inner sealing blade. If theblade is damaged it will cause leaking andmust be replaced.

Clean the developer roller with a compressedair. Place the axle of the developer roller into adrill. Take a lint free cloth, add a small amountof alcohol, then soak the cloth with water.Clean the roller using the lint free cloth whilethe roller is rotating in the drill. (See Photo 25)

Clean the developer roller shaft with a cottonswab and alcohol. (See Photo 26)

Install the Teflon shims on each end of thedeveloper roller and slide the keyed end of thedeveloper roller axle into the gear assemblyend plate. Lower the other end into positionbeing careful not to damage the Teflon shim onthat side. (See Photo 27)

Using a small flat blade screwdriver or needlenose pliers pry the developer roller contact offthe developer roller shaft and install the brasscontact bearing onto the end of the developerroller shaft. Slide it into place on the end of thetoner hopper.(See Photo 28)

Place the waste hopper top down on the workbench with the waste hopper away from you.Turn the toner hopper upside down, install theleft side of the toner hopper first.
While holding onto the toner hopper with yourleft hand, carefully bend the waste hopperaway from the gear side of the toner hopperusing your right hand. Push the right side ofthe toner hopper toward the waste hopper.(See Photo 31)
