Manga

Manga is the Japanese word for "comics" and consists of comics and print cartoons, In the West, the term "manga" has been appropriated to refer specifically to comics created in Japan, or by Japanese authors, in the

Japanese language and conforming to the style developed in Japan in the late 19th century. In their modern form, manga date from shortly after World War

II, but they have a long, complex pre-history in earlier Japanese art.

Kanagaki Robun and Kawanabe Kyosai created the first manga magazine in 1874: Eshinbun Nipponchi. The magazine was heavily influenced by Japan Punch, founded in 1862 by Charles Wirgman, a British cartoonist. Eshinbun Nipponchi had a very simple style of drawings and did not

become popular with many people. Eshinbun Nipponchi ended after three issues. The magazine Kisho Shimbun in 1875 was inspired by Eshinbun

Nipponchi, which was followed by Marumaru Chinbun in 1877, and then Garakuta Chinpo in 1879.Shōnen Sekai was the first shōnen magazine

created in 1895 by Iwaya Sazanami, a famous writer of Japanese children's literature back then. Shōnen Sekai had a strong focus on the First Sino-

Japanese War.

POPULAR MANGA

I like loads of manga’s but my favourite one would be Sailor moon, I have read all the books and watched the anime to. The story is basically about an ordinary ditzy 14-year-old girl called Serena Tsukino (Usagi Tsukino), or so she thinks.

One day she discovers a talking cat named Luna, who reveals Serena’s identity as "Sailor Moon", a special warrior whose destiny is to save planet Earth, and later the entire galaxy. Serana must now find the Moon Princess along with the other Salior scouts and protect Earth from a series of villains, beginning with

the Dark Kingdom that had appeared once before, long ago, and destroyed the kingdom of the moon.

The characters in Sailor Moon awaken members of the court of the kingdom of the moon, and the people dedicated to protecting it; when the dark nemesis attacked the kingdom, the Queen sent the Moon Princess, her guardians and advisors, and her true love into the future to be reborn. As Serena and Luna

battle evil and search for the Moon Princess, they meet the other Sailor Scouts, incarnations of the Moon Princess' protectors, and the mysterious Tuxedo

Mask.
