The focal point of combatting climate change has centered on the need to replace fossil fuel as an energy source. Fossil fuels are apart every aspect of our everyday life.
Fuel, electricity, and heat are only a small part. Products we use every day are made of fossil fuels. In many respects they are more dangerous to our environment than the use of fossil fuels for power generation.
Plastic products, steel, water bottles, appliances, electronics all are produced as a bi-product of fossil fuels. From the medications you take and food you eat to your IPhone; it’s all derived from fossil fuel MATERIALS. Ironically, even the recyclable containers one painstakingly fills with paper and plastic are made with fossil fuels.

Bio Materials
What are biobased products?
Biobased products (colloquially referred to as biomaterials) are industrial or commercial materials composed of biological feedstocks such as agricultural crops, grasses, forest residues, plant oils or other biomass. The feedstocks are broken down into sugars and converted into various building block substances, such as lactic acid. From there, the substances can be converted into countless secondary chemicals, polymers and intermediates, which often have high profit margins and can be sold on their own, or fashioned into consumer products such as antifreeze, car seats, carpets, food packaging, paints, cosmetics, adhesives and detergents. Plastic, or ‘bio plastic’ as it is known when it originates from biomass, is one of the largest applications.

Bamboo
Bamboo grows wildly in the
Southeast United States.
Thousands of rogue acres are
available for acquisition.
Mandalei is committed to cultivating the
market in the United States through a
multi-phase business model creating value for investors as we continue to be the prevalent force in
bamboo agriculture and bamboo
biotechnology.
Mandalei has identified bamboo as the first “crop” in establishment of a profitable bio-based materials industry. The merits of bamboo and time to market are leading factors in positioning the bio-based materials industry to be a superior, low-cost alternative to wood and fossil fuel based products.
Page 9Mandalei Biogenics

Hemp
The successful result of bamboo and the hemp pilot program will accomplish the following: establish a commercial market for
international grown hemp fiber products, refine commercial scale processing of
bamboo and industrial hemp fiber, and Establish industrial hemp as a viable cash
crop in the United States.
Industrial Hemp is showing the potential to join the growing trend of developing renewable sources for industrial products currently produced using non-renewable sources. Currently, there is no commercial hemp fiber processing facility in North America to supply and grow these markets.
Localizing the supply chain: the key to a sustainable economy.
Affordable products for the lower class where normally the cost of shipping included in the selling price prohibits purchase. Create jobs and local economies in rural areasClose to source manufacturing allows for a lower cost supply chain.Global technology sharing.Eliminates CO2 output from container ships.
Mandalei believes the key to a successful bio-based materials industry is the ability to apply the benefits of traditional business models, with a new commerce model based on the premise of eliminating the overhead of container shipping, while creating local sustainable supply chains and superior low-cost bio-based products.

Mandalei Biogenics
Mandalei Biogenics has implemented several technologies for the production of bamboo. All applicable intellectual protections are currently being filed. Current innovations include:
Clean processing methodsProduction processesBio plastic resin processesStructural insulated panelsBamboo fiber glass injection mold processesClosed loop textile manufacturingContinuous strand manufacturing for bamboo composites and carbon fibers Wind turbine blades
A localized approach to the supply chain model facilitates a sustainable, positive economic impact to a global population while providing positive climate change mechanisms for a cleaner future. Powered by the need for change, a redistribution of wealth is eminent as divestment in petroleum sources occurs and the general public realizes the impact of investing in community projects, and purchasing carbon neutral products at a lower price.
Support for a biomaterials industry incorporates two primary sources that have provided an array of uses and material alternatives for thousands of years. Bamboo and industrial hemp introduce a cost-effective option to petroleum-based products. Mandalei’s focus is to create low-cost, superior products that appeal to consumer’s budgets and promotes environmental stewardship to support purchase decisions.
After all, saving the planet shouldn’t be a question of affordability when
the answer is bamboo & hemp.
Biogenics
The creation of a biomaterials industry require only three foundations:
Front end investment Political supportR+D
In SE Asia, Africa and other emerging markets governments are providing land concessions and specialized tax zones for new industry.
In The United States, political support for new bio fuels and technologies are mandated as part of the EPA’s carbon reduction plan.
Several Non Government Agencies such as INBAR, NMBA, UN, WBC, IFC, Tides Organization, and others are offering technology and financing options to the green tech pioneers in bamboo.
China has just adapted an internationally recognized carbon credit scheme for bamboo.
The United States is currently developing a crowd funding arena for small business. As a result of the JOBS Act citizens may invest $2000 USD per year in private companies.
As a result internet sites such as KickStarter, Indiegogo and Mosaic have raised hundreds of millions for projects.
Mandalei Biogenics creates a global cohesive biomaterials industry through the use of a wide range of funding options and matrix of international entities.

Bio Industry Petroleum Comparison MANDALEI
Limited crop reliance
Oil, natural gas, coal all complement each other in end use products.
The production processes are similar and the same equipment may be utilized in
manufacturing.
Multiple crops, shared production assets.
Bamboo: Durable goods, plastics, textiles, bio energy, lumber, fibers, medicines
Hemp: Fuels, oils, fibers, plastics, textiles, medicines
Competing uses driving up costs for existing crops.
Increase in production gains wider profit margin in assumption of threatened
supplies.
Domestic supply complemented by international sources.
Bamboo, Hemp-like fossil fuels are the common component in the same end
use product.
Failure to establish cost- efficient methods of cultivation, harvesting, and final product manufacturing.
Through the creation of multiple end uses for the material(s) demand caused an
increase in production where acquisition costs of the material are shared between a
myriad of end use products.
Bamboo and hemp respectively have over 1000 uses identified to date. Concentration on these first phase
products will finance needed R+D for increased efficiency as well as more
advanced products already identified.
Lack of low technology uses for product lowers economic benefits for
industry.
From drilling to the impact on every industry using the product the economic benefits of petroleum are vast creating
employment for all.
A scalable bio industry replicates the economic value chain without the grave
environmental consequences.
“Wait time” for new growth crops to be established without financial incentive. Lack of subsidies and
government participation, lack of motivation for private money to wait
on returns.
Petroleum sources were discovered domestically and immediately harvested.
International sources were used to complement the domestic supply.
Focus on domestic land where commercially viable bamboo species
grow wildly. (Rogue groves).
Harvest lands via use of labor and mechanical harvesting. Crowd funded –
state grants – private investment collection center(s).
Low cost international source materials complementing domestic supply chain
to meet demand.Page 18
Industry Comparison
Unsustainable practices and overharvesting in Asia means that creating a domestic supply of bamboo in the United States has the potential for major practical, economic and environmental benefits.
With prime growing conditions, pioneering propagation techniques, and innovative companies ready to create the necessary manufacturing and infrastructure links, the U.S. is poised to act. All that remains is the political commitment and front-end investment.
Developing technologies for use of bamboo as bio fuel and bio mass are increasing the demand and driving market prices higher.
Domestically-grown bamboo would not only rejuvenate local and domestic-based markets, but it would also revive the United States agriculture industry. Bamboo is inevitably going to become a cash crop in the US, as it’s the only remaining industrialized country that doesn’t have its own bamboo infrastructure; Mandalei is at the forefront of this endeavor.

Creating Jobs
JOBS CREATED BY THE SUPPLY CHAIN
In the United States our Autonomous Manufacturing Center is scheduled to begin production in year 6 of operations. The AMC will be a disruptive model of industrial manufacturing as benefits include:
ModularLocal supply chain Self-powered – Closed loop manufacturingEliminates transportation costs Produces low cost
Bio plasticsCompositesEnergy productsHousing productsAutomotive components
Job creation Export revenueSupporting businesses
The Company has calculated retrofit and capital equipment needs for these facilities at $8 Million per facility. Plans include construction of these facilities, utilizing abandoned factories and government facilities where new market tax incentives and grants may be used to offset costs.
In accordance with the AMC processing capabilities, the Company foresees expansion of industrial parks where supporting businesses and Tier 1 component suppliers locate their facilities in these parks. AMC will sublease land and provide utilities for partner companies. “Partner companies” will recognize added value in heat, power, and waste treatment capabilities of AMC’s, thus creating avenues to recoup initial investment.

Nursery
On average, the amount of time bamboo seedlings need to remain in the nursery ranges from 8 to 12 months. In general, at least 5000 m² should be allotted for every 10,000 seedlings or young plants that will be raised annually.
Mandalei is utilizing a combination of existing growth and fresh plant bamboo. Our nursery propagation ratio is 1acre of Rhizomes will provide 40 acres of fresh plan bamboo at a 90%+ success rate.

FarmsAccording to a UC Merced Study by Andrew Zunker there are 111 million acres of abandoned farmland in the United States.
Transforming these abandoned lands to grow multi use crops not only creates jobs, but will lower our impact on the environment by as much as 31% over the next 15 years.
Mandalei currently has executed LOI’s for over 900 acres of wild growth bamboo, and soft commitments for over 1600 additional.
Mandalei is additionally exploring options for hemp farms in Kentucky, Colorado, and California where it is legal to grow industrial hemp. Legal opinion is pending regarding conflict with federal laws.

Bamboo and hemp has been proven in numerous government and University research studies to rehabilitate soil and stop soil erosion.
Mandalei will also focus on acquiring NON- Farmable lands.
In 10 years the land will increase in value creating a growing assets base, should the biomaterials model fail.
These lands can be sold as farmable, or may change crops.

Bamboo ‘Flash Pyrolysis’ or carbonization
tests of dry bamboo stems produced three products in the following weight proportions:
Charcoal (22%); Gas (21%); and bio-oil (57%).
One hectare of bamboo with an average annual yield of 10 tons
dry matter allows for the production of 4.6 thousand liters
of bio-oil and 2.2 tons of charcoal. This annual production of bio-oil
per ha of bamboo could replace 2 thousand liters of non-renewable
mineral oil.
Bamboo Active Carbon Bamboo active carbon can be used for water and gas treatment, refining coarse sugar, refining wines and
edible oils, pharmaceuticals and
cosmetic applications, filters in atomic reactors, improving soil through nitrogen fixation, as
electrodes in microelectronic technology, etc.

Resource Fiber is a startup operation primarily focusing on bamboo planting operations. Mandalei approached David Knight CEO of Resource Fiber with the purpose of exploring synergies. After being furnished a Private Placement memorandum outlining proposed operations and financing needs, Management identified an opportunity to joint venture with Resource Fiber.
Upon analysis of the PPM, the RF business model focuses on establishing commercial-scale bamboo farms requiring a minimum 6 years to reach harvest maturity. However, the RF business model calls for a bamboo manufacturing facility subsequent to establishing a domestic supply chain.
Conversations began pertaining to Mandalei owning and operating the proposed facility and quickly evolved to a mutually equitable joint venture consisting of Mandalei operating the facility utilizing Resource Fiber management, and acting as a supplier to the facility through Bamboo Group. Mandalei will advance the RF operations timeline and assist RF in proving viability and the demand for domestic commercial bamboo farms. Mandalei will capitalize on Resource Fiber’s numerous private industry and political commitments while reinforcing the success of the bio-based materials business model.

While we wait for the Securities Exchange Commission to finish writing the rules on this landmark legislation signed into law by President Obama in April 2012. The JOBS (Jumpstart Our Businesses Act of 2012 is a law intended to encourage funding of United States small businesses by easing various securities regulations and it has already begun working in spirit. Sites like Kickstarter, Indiegogo, Mosaic, and We Funder are facilitating the funding of private companies, and individual projects via public participation.
As seen above, Bamboo products and projects have been successful in the Crowdfunding realm as consumers begin to realize the positive affects of bio material products. Mandalei will utilize Crowdfunding, diverting funds from the historical marketing studies, providing a cost efficient product release.
Where projects are based on transaction, the success of the product is guaranteed and your marketing just became immediately equitable. One is no longer forecasting the success of a product, they are reporting it.

Mandalei International Operations
There have been several successes in the emerging markets, including the Mekong Project in Vietnam and various projects in Ghana by the International Finance Corporation, Asian Development Bank, and prosperity organization. Mandalei will focus on emerging market countries offering locally grown and manufactured “quality of life” products. Basic, need-fulfilling products are now affordable to the masses whereas previously, products had to absorb transportation costs as cost of goods sold, thereby making them available only to a limited population. Mandalei is working with various international governments and NGO’s in micro financing these products for distribution. Loans to the population using land as collateral will facilitate purchase of products including: Water purification (reverse osmosis
desalination) Biochar Wind turbine blades Modular Housing Flood zone housing Marketplace buildings School buildings Commercial lumber

Mandalei has created the “Level-Up” program built on well documented, viable business models supporting poverty eradication and affordability of “quality of life” products. In-country agriculture and manufacturing will localize supply chains and establish the standard of environmentally responsible commerce. Our phase 1 model provides jobs, education, and establishes new markets, coupled with environmental benefits of soil replenishment, carbon sinks, prevention of soil erosion, and water purification. This will begin a biomaterials industry that expands on profit lines, independent from continued grants, or nonprofit assistance. Sustainable materials, sustainable business model.

CTO | Founder : Tom Thomsen Thomsen has coordinated and united disparate landowners throughout the Southern United States, and harvested hundreds of tons of bamboo culms for commercial sale. He has also engineered modular facilities specifically tailored to facilitate harvesting, processing and manufacturing goods, all from domestic groves. Through several years of research, Tom has developed a mass scale planting initiative, that will utilize all existing and available domestic bamboo for industrial plantings, generating an American-produced biomass. Based on his domestic model, Thomsen has been able to engineer industrial-scaled bamboo operations to offer countries where bamboo is more plentiful, but under-utilized, i.e.: Sri Lanka, Laos, Zambia, Niger, and many other MENA (Middle East/North Africa) countries. Such initiatives will spur community-developed, biomass producers/sellers and artisans, from a feedstock that is produced in-house and harvested on location. Through an experimental combination of manual labor, mechanical harvesting, and nursery planting practices, Tom Thomsen is fast ushering bamboo into an American cash crop on an unprecedented scale; the model of which will be adopted abroad, furthering the domestically-based brand.
